摘要:
The feasibility of an exhaust gas operated open cycle absorption airconditioning system for transport vans is studied. The exhaust gas characteristics of a typical petrol or diesel engine indicate that at full load the cooling potential in the exhaust gas is far in excess to that required for its internal space to be cooled. Open regeneration is possible on the specially designed roof-top of the van and the open cycle absorption cooling (OCAC) unit can be integrated with the engine. The mechanical energy to run a small vacuum pump to evacuate the absorber-evaporator assembly and to recirculate the solution and refigerant (water) may be fed by the engine shaft through gears. The operating cost of such a system is almost negligible, although this slightly increases the operational cost of the van. This concept is useful for preventing food spoilage during the transport of food from remote production centres to the distant market. Moreover, the study enhances the concept of the waste energy utilisation process.

Austria has had a long tradition in the use of a specific renewable energy resource, hydropower, which still provides some 70% of the electricity supply. In order to achieve the national energy policy goal of lessening the dependence on liquid hydrocarbons, the need for a substantial programme of energy planning and research has been identified.

摘要:
Measurements of global solar irradiance on a horizontal surface at 5 meteorological stations in Pais Valenciano are compared with predictions made by the Barbaroet al.model. This paper describes how this model has been modified in order to determine solar irradiance from sunshine hours and minimum air mass. An appropriate parameter is determined and used to predict solar irradiance at all stations with an accuracy better than 10 per cent.

摘要:
A new technology is emerging from European initiatives which will bring about revolutionary changes in the building industry. A major use of recently developed transparent insulation materials is in the cladding of buildings [1]. The various high technology materials have excellent insulating qualities, while energy gains from solar radiation are also collected. Thus using transparent insulation becomes the most thermally efficient and cost effective construction method known today and can exceed the energy efficiency of conventional passive solar architecture by a wide margin. For the first time it will be possible to build a house which is completely solar heated.

摘要:
The present paper looks at some aspects of the performance of industrial and environmental thermometers. The aspects of interest here are dynamic response, environmental effects and sensor location. Methods of the response time prediction are briefly discussed. The importance of correct physical properties of fluid and sensor constituents is pointed out. The effects of manufacturing tolerances such as air gaps and porosity of insulants are also discussed. Some attempts at prediction of the sensor performance is heptane and carbon tetrachloride are presented. These predictions are based on water tests and compared with experimental results. Sensor location in a process is not often looked at closely. This is discussed and its importance pointed out.
