摘要:
Heat pump water heaters (HPWH) are ideally suited for water heating in restaurant applications, since restaurant kitchens have both a high demand for hot water and a nearly year round space cooling load. The heat pump can be used to heat the water while cooling the kitchen air. To account for the performance of the heat pump as both a water heater and an air conditioner, a fundamental model of a heat pump was developed which accounts for changes in performance caused by changes in the condenser and evaporator environments. This model was used in conjunction with a restaurant model to determine the space conditioning savings and the cost of water heating compared to conventional gas and electric water heaters.

摘要:
The aim of this technical note is to provide a useful practical insight into some of the problems of using a variable electrical power source. It concentrates on single-phase Static Self-Commutating Inverters. While these are now quite common in the form of uninterruptable power supplies for computers, and as AC power sources in vehicles, their use in small stand-alone wind power systems poses particular difficulties which are discussed in detail, A brief section on Power Conditioning is also included as this may be desirable if power is supplied from a small wind or solar system, to reduce both slow voltage fluctuations and fast voltage transients, or to provide special supplies at different voltages.

摘要:
Wind data have been gathered over nine years in the city of Riyadh and an on-site wind data assessment program has been implemented. The results gave the daily, monthly and yearly variation of wind speed. The monthly and annual averages of Weibull factors were also determined. The wind distribution was found to be well represented by the Weibull distribution function.

摘要:
The concepts of the characteristic and non-characteristic wind directions were defined by a statistical test. It was established from the wind data of 13 meteorological observatories in Hungary that the wind speed of characteristic wind directions is greater than that of all and the non-characteristic directions. Further, one characteristic wind direction transports about four times as much wind power as one non-characteristic direction.

摘要:
This paper presents an investigation on an open cycle absorption solar cooling system with solution storage for continuous operation. A simple heat and mass transfer analysis for predicting the water mass evaporation rate under steady state and transient conditions have been presented. Basic mass, material, and heat balance equations along with fluid properties state equation have been used and parametric results for the mass of the anhydrous salt and/or water mass content in the solution required for system operation have been predicted as a function of climatic parameters and initial solution condition. It is found that an open cycle absorption cooling system with solution storage option is feasible for continuous air-conditioning.
