摘要:
Solar heating shows potentially significant savings in environmental pollution through its savings in fossil fuel burning. One of the largest public housing schemes in the UK has saved 6 tonnes of carbon, 22 tonnes of CO2and 0.1 tonne of NOxthat would have been released into the atmosphere by burning gas in 15 dwellings since 1984. Potential savings from a 50% penetration of solar heating into the domestic market are estimated.

摘要:
This paper presents preliminary design considerations of a solar hydrogen system for energy supply of a single family house. With such a system, a house can be energy self-sufficient using a photovoltaic array on the roof as the only energy source. All household energy needs, including fuel for an automobile, can be met by adequate architectural design, using environmental heat, solar produced electricity and hydrogen.

摘要:
Hungary has one of the richest geothermal resources in Europe. The geothermal anomaly in Hungary lies in the fact that at a depth of 2000 metres hot water can be found at temperatures between 110°C and 130°C. The total amount of thermal water which can be found in sandstone strata has been estimated to be some 2500 km3. This paper outlines the results of a major information survey of these geothermal water resources. Some possible joint ventures for the exploitation of geothermal energy are discussed, as well as the natural, economic and organizational obstacles to these developments.

摘要:
The methodology for assessing the design outdoor temperatures is based on the principle of accepting a low risk that the extreme outdoor temperatures exceed the design values, However, it was found that traditional design procedures often resulted in over-sized mechanical systems. New approaches were developed to define the design weather data for heating and cooling systems. These explored how the duration of extreme temperatures and building thermal inertia affected the selection of design weather data. This paper describes the development of new design outdoor temperatures for sizing HVAC systems in Montréal, Canada, using both the above factors as well as more recent recorded hourly data for a 15-year period (1974–1988).

摘要:
A major factor preventing the identification of appropriate energy interventions in the rural areas of Africa is the lack of a methodology for rural energy data collection and analysis. This paper proposes such a methodology and describes how it provides relevant data on the dynamics of energy supply and demand. Using this data, energy sector planners can make an informed contribution to the development of rural areas.
