In this paper, the application of robust multivariable control system design methods to wind turbines is discussed. The control problem is introduced and the background to the design method is given. The H-infinity (H ∞) controller is implemented and the Loop Shaping Design Procedure is used. MATLAB® is used for the mathematical analysis.

摘要:
A simple model of blade twisting was used in conjunction with a wind turbine rotor performance model to predict the ability of a self-twisting blade to regulate the speed of a small wind turbine. The results were used in order to establish guidelines for some of the design choices for such a turbine, particularly with regard to blade shape.

摘要:
Recent modelling work of the energy distribution throughout a local small-scale combined energy generation system (CEGS) has been based on the Dutch SOMES code. This is presently being revised at Loughborough University, to reflect more closely the operating conditions of the CEGS and to facilitate overall control optimisation. Extensive data monitoring equipment has been installed, to provide validation data for the model and to facilitate real-time analysis of the system. This paper presents the operational characteristics of the CEGS and explains progress with the system modelling.

摘要:
The mountainous regions of developing countries offer a great potential for small scale hydroelectric schemes, running as stand alone units. Such schemes with power output less than 100kW are usually referred to as micro-hydro power generation units. For low—head sites (available head less than 10 m), there is a vast number of suitable sites in countries with less mountainous areas and high rainfall, or extensive irrigation canals.
