The use of power shedding (or dump load) control in wind-diesel systems represents a method to ensure stability of the electrical network or to maintain a minimum load on the diesel(s). One approach to dissipate excess power is the use of an electronically controlled electrical load. This paper describes a simple, effective, low cost, and reliable power shedding control system that was designed and built as part of the University of Massachusetts Wind/Diesel System Simulator. The power electronics design, which is based on pulse width modulation, requires only one active switching device, and a single resistive element. In its present form, the capacity of the device is 10kW. Scaling, however, to a larger capacity should not present significant problems. As described in the paper, tests undertaken with the dump load control show that it can successfully maintain grid frequency, has acceptable harmonic distortion, and can ensure a minimum load on a diesel generator. In addition, the dynamic response of the control has been found to be acceptable.

摘要:
The present technique for the disposal of sewage and municipal solid wastes is usually by means of a bucket system. The night soil collected in the buckets is conventionally disposed of in lagoons, which have to be located away from the city. Municipal wastes consist of degradable organic and inorganic solids. The practice of its disposal is accompanied by foul smells and fly breeding, which adversely affects the environment.

摘要:
A variety of empirical equations for estimating monthly global solar radiation on a horizontal surface exist. The preference of any one model over another is due to the level of accuracy and simplicity. In this paper an empirical correlation for estimating daily global solar radiation, H, on a horizontal surface is suggested. The values of daily H could be calculated from the empirical equation H/Ho= 0.709e−0.00055|x|or from equation H/Ho= 0.6753 −0.0024 |x|. The accuracy is almost the same for both techniques. Hence, the use of the linear relationship is recommended for the sake of simplicity. Two other equations are also considered to estimate the daily global solar radiation by considering June 21st as the first day of the year. The two equations are:

摘要:
The earth and its atmosphere is modelled as a global wind power system. The atmosphere air is the working fluid of the novel wind heat engine. The wind heat engine receives its heat from the solar sun and human power consumption, rejects its heat to the space and produces wind power. A mathematical expression is derived for the potential power output of the global wind system with the effect of human power consumption. The result shows that although the effect is small at the present time, it may be significant in the future if the human power consumption continues to grow exponentially.
