摘要:
A single family solar house has been built in Budapest. It was designed for reducing energy consumption by the application of a hybrid solar system. The 24 m2collector array of the active subsystem is combined with conventional energy sources and covers the heat demand of domestic hot water (DHW) and space heating. The collector array provides shading of the sunspace in the summer. The passive solar subsystem comprises a greenhouse, a sunspace, a seasonally movable third glazing, protective vegetation, high thermal insulation, an earth bank, solar conscious orientation of windows and heat buffer zones.

摘要:
Three hundred and sixty different orientations of a single model with two different building skins were studied and evaluated with respect to their thermal performance. Additionally, the impact of orientation on space indoor temperature and space cooling and/or heating load in a hot dry climate was studied and evaluated. A predefined computer program using the transient heat transfer method and thermal response factor method was utilized as the main research tool. The search showed significant differences between orientations of building, especially in the case when the building is thermally insulated.

摘要:
Crop drying is the oldest method of preserving agricultural products. However, the developing countries experience considerable losses from the traditional practices of floor drying in the sun and subsequent storage. These post-harvest losses are discussed and followed by an analysis of the drying problem. This includes the disadvantages of natural drying, energy requirements, the effect on the environment of drying with fossil fuels and the limitations of both fossil fuel and electrically powered dryers. Solar drying is defined and a brief overview of solar insolation and sunshine hours in some developing countries is given. Over the years much effort has been devoted to make the natural drying processes more efficient by the introduction of solar technology. The potential for the use of solar dryers as an alternative to traditional sun drying methods in developing countries is outlined. The present status of the solar drying of agricultural products in those countries is assessed, leading to the final conclusions with recommendations for future action.

摘要:
In the present communication, the authors have studied the performance of a rotary bed solid desiccant adiabatic dehumidifier. A Bry-Air dehumidifier has been installed in Delhi at the Solar Refrigeration Laboratory of the Centre of Energy Studies and performance testing has been carried out. On the basis of conservation equations for mass/material and energy balances, theoretical performance results were obtained from a modified computer model [1]. These have been compared with the experimental test results for the dehumidifier for a practical range of operating conditions. It was found that there is a qualitative agreement between the test results and the theoretical predictions.
