摘要:
The output power of a simple irreversible dry geothermal field power plant is analyzed. The plant uses a secondary vapour Rankine cycle coupled to the dry geothermal field heating fluid (heat source) and a cooling fluid (heat sink) by heat transfer. A mathematical expression is derived for the power output of the irreversible geothermal heat engine. The maximum power output is found by computer graphics. The maximum bound provides the basis for the evaluation of the power of existing geothermal power plants.

The effects of the thermal and hydrodynamics entry length for both laminar and turbulent flow regimes within an air-heating solar collector have been studied using a numerical procedure. Two internal arrangements were considered: (1) air passing on both sides of the absorber (parallel flow), and (2) use of finned and other augmented surfaces.

摘要:
A natural circulation solar water heating system of 750 litres capacity has been designed, developed and tested. The solar collector is based on the thermosyphon principle and can provide hot water at a temperature of 80–85°C by the late afternoon. If this is stored until the following morning its temperature is still 70–75°C. The overall efficiency of the solar collector is 43%. The simple payback period for the system is between 7 months and 27 months, depending on the cost of alternative fuels.

摘要:
Sky radiation affects numerous systems but is often under estimated. This paper is especially oriented towards its determination in hot countries for cooling purposes. It includes expressions for clear weather conditions and shows some properties and the power of the flux according to the climates. Observations in Kuwait and in the Ivory Coast support the corrections established concerning hazed skies. Correction for cloudiness is treated theoretically. The limited interest of anti-convective selective coatings is finally pointed out to warn the reader against unfeasible performances.
