摘要:
A real thermoelectric power generator utilizing heat from a solar pond is proposed. The generator is treated as an external and internal irreversible heat engine. The specific power output of the generator is analysed and compared with that of the Carnot, endoreversible, and external reversible thermoelectric heat engines.

摘要:
Measurements of global solar radiation and duration of bright sunshine for the Republic of Sudan have been presented. For this purpose, nine index stations spread all over Sudan are chosen. The brightness ratio n/N, to be defined later, ranges between 0.373 and 0.923. The results show huge resources of solar energy available in Sudan. The correlationships between the global solar radiation and bright sunshine duration for this vast country have been developed by performing regression analysis using three models, namely linear, exponential and power. Excellent correlations were obtained for all three models, but the power one was found very marginally superior over the others. This suggests that the linear relationship can still be used with a great degree of accuracy. The correlationships have also been used to estimate evaporation rates. Further, the Piche coefficients (Cp), defined as the ratios of estimated evaporation rates to Piche measurements, have been obtained and compared with those suggested by other investigators. A reasonably good agreement has been found.

R22, a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC), is used widely in the air-conditioning and refrigeration industry; however, it is being phased out along with other HCFCs, due to concerns about its impact on ozone depletion. In the EEC countries its production, commercialization and use will be forbidden before the end of 1999.

摘要:
The available surface density of total solar radiation can be suitably calculated by the SOLEN method. The basic principles and relations of the mathematical model used in the SOLEN method are introduced. The universal SOLEN method enables calculation of the amount of solar energy incident on an arbitary tilted and orientated surface and transmitted through glazing for a chosen month. The SOLEN method uses the average monthly value of the relative sunshine duration, taking into account the mean real cloudiness of the respective geographical locality.

摘要:
In this technical note, an annualized life cycle costing method has been used for the economic evaluation of various designs of solar stills. The cost of distilled water and the payback period have been evaluated on the basis of monthly performance. It is observed that the cost of distilled water per m2is most economical for the multi-wick double effect distillation unit due to low water depth in the basin and re-utilization of latent heat of vapourization. Further, the payback period is also reduced.

摘要:
Computer integrated environments which address centralised industrial infrastructures may utilise single standard product models. However the building industry requires a more specific, domain-oriented approach. One impetus to-date for developing such an approach is the desire to integrate into the design process the substantial work that has been undertaken in developing analytical models for diverse aspects of energy use. The process of architectural design is undertaken increasingly in computational environments. It thus becomes possible to integrate quantitative consideration of the energy implications of design decisions into a design process. Two approaches which constitute initial steps towards the achievement of these aims are described in this paper.
