摘要:
This paper presents a summary of available performance data for several types of passive and hybrid solar heating systems using heat pipes or thermosyphons to transfer collected solar energy from the absorber to short or medium-term thermal storage located within the building being heated. This location of the thermal storage compared to storage in direct view of the sun is shown to greatly reduce hear losses from storage and to permit solar collection even under unfavourable sun conditions. The heat pipes or thermosyphons are essential in this application since they act as thermal diodes to transfer the collected heat efficiently from collector to storage only while preventing the unwanted reverse heat flow (loss) from storage to the outdoors. The relative simplicity, generally passive nature, efficiency and low cost of these systems makes them excellent prospects for further development to better suit market requirements.

摘要:
The roof-pond night-cooling technique was investigated for possible use in storage of fruits grown in northern Thailand. A 3 x 3.5 X 2 m experimental test room was constructed and monitored over a one-year period. Two varieties of pear and one variety of persimmon were stored in the cool room during 1983. Results showed that room temperature varied between 9–17°C, and room relative humidity ranged from 85–90%, during the period tested. With 50% good fruits still remaining, the Pien Pu variety of pear could be stored in the cool 'room for 35 days (under normal pressure) and 99 days (under 160 mmHg pressure), compared with 10 days at normal room temperature. The New Century variety of pear could be stored in the cool room for 42 days, compared with 7–10 days at room temperature. For P-1 persimmon, storage in the cool room extended the fruit's life to 119 days (under 160 mmHg pressure), compared to 7 days at normal room temperature, and 7 days in the cool room at normal pressure. These results indicated that the technique has potential, and further investigations are being conducted.

摘要:
The heat transfer behaviour of a latent heat store is a key aspect influencing its utility in practical applications. With this in view, the present paper describes experimental investigations undertaken to determine the thermal performance characteristics of a prototype latent heat storage module employing a finned heat-pipe heat exchanger and filled with a fatty acid as the heat storage material. Results obtained from measurements during charging of the latent heat store, including the influence of major operating parameters on the thermal response of the store, are discussed in detail in the first part of the paper. The store thermal behaviour during two other operation modes of storage discharging and bypass is then briefly described. Finally, the modular feature of the storage concept is examined by comparing the heat transfer characteristics during charging of a single module with that during discharging of a 4-module latent heat storage unit.

摘要:
When a refrigerant cooled rotary sliding vane compressor was used in a heat pump application, using refrigerant R22, a discrepancy was found to exist between the measured shaft power and the apparent power absorbed based on refrigerant properties and thermodynamic considerations.
