摘要:
This paper represents a portion of a study of decision analysis in large-scale systems in which an effort is made to attack problem complexity by taking advantage of any inherent structure in the problem. By arranging the elements in the problem in an appropriate graphical form, usually a tree or hierarchy, it may often be possible to decompose the problem into a number of loosely coupled subproblems which can be solved independently and then coordinated in such a way as to provide a solution to the overall problem. We first survey team decision theory in which a multiplicity of decision makers, each of whom has access to different information, is attempting to extremize the same cost function. Under the conditions of a linear system with quadratic costs and Gaussian noises, the solution of a static team problem, in which no member's decision affects any other member's information, reduces to the solution of a set of linear algebraic equations. A large class of dynamic team problems which possess certain information structures is found to reduce to a static problem and hence can also be solved as a set of linear algebraic equations. Team problems can often be represented as cooperative stochastic differential games. Finally a technique is proposed for reducing the computational burden by decomposing the problem into a set of subproblems which can be solved relatively independently employing the techniques of hierarchical systems theory.

摘要:
This paper proposes a technique for significantly reducing the energy demand of a batch penicillin process. The technique is based on the concept of specific optimal control and is realized through a controlled temperature variation of the process. A simple binary temperature controller has been found to yield a sevenfold reduction in energy demand whilst maintaining the same output as that currently obtained under optimum isothermal conditions.

摘要:
In this paper we consider sampled-data systems realized by linear time-invariant continuous systems whose inputs are piecewise constant. The problem dealt with is the following : assuming that the continuous system is controllable, what are the necessary and sufficient conditions for the sampled-data system to be controllable ?

摘要:
The discrete time-variant regulator problem with an infinite sum criterion is considered as a variational problem on the normed linear apace of infinite sequences(1n1)The discrete Euler equation is used to find the necessary condition that an optimal control sequence, solving this problem, must satisfy and it is shown that the optimal control is in the form of time-variant feedback gain which satisfies a discrete Riccati difference equation. The case of finite-time, time-variant regulator is treated as a special case of the infinite-time problem.

摘要:
A numerical method for determining the envelope curves to a set of Gershgorin circles in a classical Inverse Nyquist Array diagram is presented. The use of these envelope curves reduces the amount of information displayed when computergraphic terminals are used in the design process. This reduction loads to significant savings in core-memory requirements if the computer terminal is of the refresh type and is not fitted with hardware for circular interpolation. In addition, the use of these curves ensures that only relevant design criteria are displayed, thus reducing the total information which is usually presented.

摘要:
Several necessary and sufficient conditions for a decentralized linear discrete-time control system to be observable are given. It is also shown that if a decentralized control system is observable by a control station, the station can design a dead-beat observer for the system.

摘要:
In this paper iterative procedures for obtaining the minimum-fuel (minimum l1) and minimum control amplitude (minimum l∞) solutions are suggested. Both procedures require a finite number of iterations and are based on the steepest descent method for linearly constrained optimization problems. The minimum energy solution is used to start the iterations. The algorithmic procedures suggested are shown to be computationally more efficient than other known techniques.

摘要:
The convergence of a proposed method for state estimation in power systems is analysed for a case with constant state vector. In particular, a set into which estimates obtained by two versions of the SCI method converge is determined.
