摘要:
The optimal control signal for saturating or relay control systems is a complicated function of several state variables. A sub-optimal technique is to use instead a function which is simply a linear combination of functions each of which has only one state variable as argument. When the plant consists of a set of pure integrators, previous work has shown how to reduce the resulting sub-optimal controller design problem to the determination of a few parameters. In the present paper the choice of these parameters is considered. For a third-order system it is shown that the motion can be depicted in a ‘reduced state space’ having only two coordinates. The portrait in this state plane enables pathological behaviour (instability and excessively slow sliding motion caused by incorrect adjustment of controller parameters) to be recognized and avoided. The sub-optimal controller can then be adjusted so that settling times about 30° greater than the optimal values can be obtained. The reduced state space is also used to study some known sub-optimal predictive control strategies.

摘要:
Considerable difficulties have been encountered in the direct application of variational methods to control systems optimization because two-point boundary problems are involved which cannot normally be solved in real time. In this paper a method is described in which, by the use of heuristic computation techniques, this limitation is overcome.

摘要:
With the growing importance of active RC synthesis, it has become necessary to decompose a given rational function in a certain manner. In this paper three new methods of decomposition of a real rational function with no restriction on the numerator order, relative to the denominator order, are presented and their applications illustrated

摘要:
A method of realizing exactly any real rational open-circuit voltage transfer function specification is given using three three-terminal RC networks and a differential-output amplifier. The method has the advantage that one of the three RC networks is required only when the specification has some positive real axis zeros.

摘要:
This paper will investigate the properties of cyclic codes under the transformation,$ It is discovered that for all the non-shortened cyclic codes (binary or (/-nary), if (g(x), (x−1)) =1 then the set of all the codewords is invariant under the transformation fb. If (g(x), Lx−1)) = (x; − 1), then the set of all the code words is generated by g(x)/(x − 1). Next this paper shows a systematic method for the construction of orthogonal cyclic codes in which all the code vectors are orthogonal to each other even to itself

摘要:
This paper postulates torque balance governing as the ideal to be sought during the fault and post-fault periods of the transient stability regime. Series resistors have a part to play during the fault and some form of bang-bang control—excitation or series capacitor switching can provide rapid damping of rotor swings after the fault. Hitherto, the possibility of the conventionally governed turbine being able to contribute to damping during these transients has been discounted due to slowness of response of the governing systems and time lags in the turbine loop pipes and reheater. New proposals are made in which advantage is taken of the trend towards location of throttle and interceptor valves on the turbine casing, thus eliminating loop-pipe delays and also of the developing high-speed unit-actuator controlled throttle valves. These developments lead to the possibility of control of main throttle and interceptor valves in unison thus eliminating the reheater delays. By means of a carefully proportioned acceleration signal, it is shown how even the time constant due to these valve-operating times may be eliminated. The result is, potentially at least, a control system in which a steam turbine can be so controlled that, within its rating limitations, it can rapidly reduce torque even to some extent during the fault period and, moreover, contribute, again within rating limitations, to controlled damping during the post-fault period

摘要:
A method is presented for choosing variables and writing and solving equations of sampled-data systems. The need for such a procedure is evident from attempts to pulse-transform equations involving unfiltered sampled variables. Such operations are equivalent to having two ideal samplers in succession, the output of which is undefined. The proposed method eliminates the occurrence of such situations and demonstrates a straightforward solution procedure

摘要:
A linear transformation is proposed which will transform an arbitrary (constant) linear dynamical systempinto a certain standard (canonical) form. This particular canonical form coincides with the well-known phase-variable canonical form [l]-[5] for the case of completely controllable, scalar input, linear dynamical systems and coincides with a canonical form recently proposed by Luenberger [6] and Wonham [7] in the case of completely controllable, vector input, linear dynamical systems. For linear dynamical systems which are not completely controllable, the canonical form proposed herein displays explicitly: (i) the sub-system ofpwhich is completely controllable and (ii) the sub-system ofpwhich is completely uncontrollable. The explicit identification of these two sub-systems permits us to effectively implement the important fundamental stabilization theorem for constant linear dynamical systems and also a useful theorem on spectrum controllability for linear dynamical systems. An important feature of the present work is the development of an explicit and effective numerical algorithm for computing the required transformation matrix and its inverse

摘要:
A transformation procedure is developed for a completely observable, multi variable, multi-output, linear control system. The transformed system is made up of several simple sub-systems which have the output vectors and control input vectors of the original system as their inputs. The form of each sub-system is especially suitable for the design of a Luenberger observer
