摘要:
A feedback control policy is formulated for minimization of the expected length of time required for the state of a stochastic dynamic system to first reach a desired terminal region. The control variables are constrained and it is assumed that noise-free observations of the system state are available at all times. Dynamic programming leads to a non-linear partial differential equation that is very difficult to solve. Instead the difference between the stochastic and the more tractable deterministic equations for the switching hyperplane is represented by a truncated power series, and the optimal switching hyperplane for a ‘ bang-bang ’ controller is then computed through a search on the power series coefficients using repetitive simulations. Numerical results for the location of the stochastic switching curves for a specific second-order system with additive gaussian white noise are presented and discussed.

摘要:
In this paper a controller design incorporating a non-linear state reconstruotor is considered for a class of unstable non-linear plants. A basic assumption is that if all state variablesxof the process to be controlled were available for measurement, then there is some control law Φ(x) that would result in an asymptotically stable closed-loop system. When only a limited number of measurements are available, it is shown that a non-linear state reconstructor can be used to provide estimatesxof the process state. Conditions are given for the stability of the controlled system using Φ(x). Simulation results of the performance of a non-linear regulator are included.

摘要:
It is shown to what extent linear process models can be simplified if small errors in the controlled variable are permitted. Laws for model simplification by neglecting small time constants, replacement of small time constants by time delays and replacement of different time constants by equal time constants are given.

摘要:
A method for a stability analysis of a sequentially switched system is suggested. By transforming such a system into multi-rate sampled-data form, the stability boundaries for a particular class of third, sixth and higher-order systems are investigated using Jury's Criterion. The stability boundaries are also drawn for equivalent sampled-data systems with and without zero-order hold. The stability boundaries for the sequentially switching systems are generally better than those of the corresponding sampled-data systems. Depending on the ratio of sampling time to a system time constant, it can also be seen that a sequentially switched system may have greater relative stability than an equivalent continuous system.

摘要:
Some analytical results are first presented for a stochastic system with state-dependent noise, and then an equivalent system without state-dependent noise is derived in the sense of second-order moments. An advantageous use is made of the derived equivalent system for determining the linear optimal filtering algorithm for the stochastic system with state-dependent noise.

摘要:
An adaptive non-linear filtering algorithm is developed for handling linear, time-invariant, discrete, dynamical systems with bounded input and measurement noise disturbances. The new result yields the conditional-mean state estimate by combining the Bayesian decision rule, a reachable set concept and a technique of approximating probability density functions by their moments. The adaptive feature is needed because only the input noise bounds, rather than the complete input density function, are assumed to be known. Numerical comparisons on a second-order system are presented to demonstrate that the non-linear filtering algorithm adapts itself to yield considerably more accurate results than those obtained by applying the best linear filter.

摘要:
In this paper we formulate a time optimal control problem for a continuous time linear system with a terminal region by the method based on functional analysis and present its solution. The solution is obtained from the results of a minimization of a convex function that is solved by a digital computer. Numerical results of an example system are shown for the two cases of amplitude constraint and energy constraint on control inputs.
