摘要:
A heuristic control strategy is proposed to control the speed of a wave front that is governed by a one-dimensional advection-diffusion-reaction equation. The strategy employs the time-dependent temperatures measured by two sensors located at different positions. These temperatures are used to vary the wave speed in such a manner that the wave front is located between the two sensors. Results are presented for different sensor locations and time constants arid show that the control strategy drives the wave front to its analytic solution.

摘要:
We present a simple cost-function approach to the stabilizability of linear time-invariant systems by output feedback. It makes use of a method of Berger (1982) for obtaining the largest hypersphere containing only polynomials that are stable.

摘要:
This paper is concerned with the qualitative behaviour of the multivariable root-locus for high and low gains. For a non-singularm×mrational transfer function, the Butterworth approach and departure patterns are shown to be determined in all cases by the zeros and poles of certain algebraic functions. These are in turn characterized (at each point of the extended complex plane) by a set ofmrational numbers called the root-locus indices. In addition, the Smith-McMillan pole-zero structure of the transfer function is represented (at each point of the extended complex plane) by a sequence ofmintegers, called the McMillan indices. An algebraic condition for the coincidence of the two sets of indices is established using the algebraic function theory underlying the Newton diagram method together with a valuation characterization of the Smith-McMillan form. It is shown directly (without simple null structure assumptions or equivalent conditions on constant matrices) that the condition is generically met. The analysis also establishes a close link with the existing algebraic function approach to the generalized Nyquist stability criterion where the relationship between the two types of poles and zeros is of crucial importance. The case of a rank deficient transfer function is briefly considered.

摘要:
In this paper two problems are considered: that of finding a (possibly dynamic) linear periodic controller such that both the regulated output and the control input of a linear periodic discrete-time system become and remain zero, and that of designing a dead-beat observer of a linear function of the state of the system. For both these problems necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution are given, and synthesis procedures of both the controller and the observer are provided by the sufficiency proofs. Such conditions are very simple and concise when expressed in terms of controllable and/or unreconstructible states.

摘要:
Extension of the projective-controls approach to the design of discrete multivariable PI + dynamic controllers for systems with external disturbances and controls feeding directly to the outputs is presented. The procedure is applied to a ship boiler control problem to provide comparisons with the usual observer-based approach.

摘要:
This paper presents theory and results concerning the analysis of the identification of closed-loop systems using least-squares methods. The least-squares technique is applied in its normal form and in a modified version developed to cope with the bias problem. The analysis has been established following a mathematical investigation of the problem, and by simulation of different identification experiments applied to different structures of closed-loop systems.

摘要:
We study feedback design for systems with multiple time-scale structure uncovering an intrinsic time-scale structure for a state feedback system with full state output. From this we construct a multiple time-scale asymptotic observer and consider a system with state feedback via a two time-scale asymptotic observer. Finally we obtain more general results for a restricted class of systems.

摘要:
In this paper three new adaptive control strategies for linear discrete-time single-input/single-output plants are proposed. They enable globally stable and exponentially convergent adaptive controllers to be designed based on various approaches, such as pole placement and optimal LQ. The principle idea of the strategies proposed is to apply a fixed-parameter control law while the estimates of the plant parameters leave some appropriately chosen region. The persistency of excitation of some external signals is crucial for the stability analysis of an overall adaptive system.

摘要:
The discrete Walsh polynomials are applied to solve the digital optimal control of time-varying systems in this study. Due to the elegant properties of operational matrices of discrete Walsh polynomials, the class of digital time-varying problems can be analysed successfully. The design algorithms of digital optimal control are based on the discrete variational principle combined with the idea of a penalty function to obtain directly computational formulations for evaluating the optimal control and state trajectory. An example is given to illustrate the usefulness of the method, and the results are very accurate.

摘要:
Two-filler formulae for the Bayes solution of the fixed-interval discrete-time nonlinear smoothing problem are obtained. The smoothed aposterioridensity is computed under the assumptions of a general Markov signal observed through a general memoryless noisy channel. The case where there is feedback from the observation to the signal is also considered. The derived algorithms complement a two-pass algorithm obtained under somewhat more restrictive assumptions by Askar and Derin (1981). Known smoothing results for the linear gaussian case are interpreted in the light of the general bayesian results
