摘要:
An infinite dimensional system is considered and the concept is introduced of the sensitivity operator for the system parameter estimate. The selection of the regularization parameter in the optimization criterion for system identification is discussed. Under an appropriate inequality condition on the regularization parameter, the sensitivity operator can be approximated either by Neumann series partial sums or by an iterative algorithm. In addition, the inequality condition on the regularization parameter provides the possibility not only of ensuring the well-posedness of the system parameter estimation but also of performing an analysis of the sensitivity to observation of the system parameter estimate.

摘要:
A new type of self-tuning pole-placement controller is proposed based on multi-step cost function minimization and using single-input single-output models of the controlled autoregressive moving average form. The generalized pole-placement (GPP) algorithm has advantages over standard pole-placement self-tuners in having a set of tuning knobs for improving transient response and overall control performance. The GPP is particularly suitable for programmed control in which future set-point values are known.

摘要:
A practical application of self-tuning generalized pole placement (GPP) is discussed. The application, which involves the control of a five-axis, electrically actuated robot manipulator, is presented for two reasons. First, it illustrates the performance of a novel neo-classical multi-step predictive self-tuner in an important area of applied research—namely, robot control. Second, since the manipulator in question is electrically driven through a harmonic gearbox, the investigation has a general relevance to the area of self-tuning electromechanical servomechanisms. Two forms of GPP algorithms are compared, one based upon a controlled autoregressive integrated moving average model and the other upon a controlled autoregressive moving average model. The relative merits are discussed in the context of (i) single-input single-output and multiloop robot joint control, (ii) programmed setpoint control, and (iii) the use of the performance tuning aids with which the GPP algorithm is equipped.

摘要:
The paper provides a geometrical characterization for the minimal general cascade decomposition of a d-regular rational matrix function defined on a sum of finite-dimensional spaces. It also contains a necessary and sufficient condition for the stability of such a decomposition, These results, when applied to the case of the linear fractional decompositions of a matrix-valued function lead to a new treatment of the corresponding problems discussed by Helton and Ball (1982) and Gohberg and Rubinstein (1986).

摘要:
The stability properties and design rules for a class of robust integrating regulators are considered. Passivity arguments are employed to define bounds on the parameters of an extended PID regulator and to establish the robustness of the closed-loop stability properties in the presence of sector-bounded non-linear elements in the feedback loop. This approach allows linear and non-linear single-input/single-output and multi-input/multi-oulput systems to be considered in the same framework.

摘要:
Balanced realizations are used to construct a canonical form for the set of minimal and asymptotically stable MIMO systems of a given order. A parametrization resutt is derived that allows us to show a truncation property of this canonical form.

摘要:
The structural identification of linear muitivariabie systems can be performed on the basis of the predicted percentage of reconstruction errors (PPCRE) associated to a sequence of increasing-complexity models. This paper extends some previous results describing the properties of the PPCRE for canonical models whose parameters are estimated by means of the eigenvector method.

摘要:
This paper considers the pole-assignment problem for discrete-time linear periodic systems through the use of linear periodic state-variable feedback control. It is shown that if the N-periodic system with m inputs and n states is completely reachable then the problem can be reduced to the pole-assignment problem for a discrete-time linear invariant system with Nm inputs and n states.

摘要:
The estimation of a spatially varying parameter in a time-periodic boundary-value parabolic system is considered. We show that the parameter can be identified in the corresponding initial boundary-value problem. The minimization of the output least-squares criterion via the adjoint state method is implemented (using the ‘discrete’ gradient). Numerical experiments are presented on a problem taken from oceanography: the identification of the CO2turbulent diffusion coefficient in a column of water. Cubic spline approximations of the parameter are tested on different sets of data.
