摘要:
Two possible optimization techniques for on-line adjustment of the design parameters involved in the adaptation algorithms of adaptive control schemes for minimum phase plants arc discussed. Sensitivity corrections adapled to this particular problem are introduced for correcting inaccuracies in an auxiliary model derived in order to be able to apply classical optimization techniques to the whole scheme. The main objective of such techniques is to improve the adaptation transient performances. The resulting strategies are discussed from the point of view of performance and possible implementation. Simulations illustrate the feasibility of the proposed optimizing procedures which are an extension, using a more general optimization theory and/or a sensitivity approach, of previous results and an alternative to the adaptive sampling approach of De la Sen (1984 c).

摘要:
Background information on the Kalman filter is given first. A discussion of the filter parameters and theira prioridetermination follows. The discussion points out the need for adaptive determination of the process noise statistics. The filter innovations are presented as a means for developing the adaptive criteria. The criteria centre around the estimation of the true mean and covariance of the filter innovations

摘要:
Hermitian solutions of the discrete algebraic Riccati equation play an important role in the least-squares optimal control problem for discrete linear systems. In this paper we describe the set of hermitian solutions in various ways: in terms of factorizations of rational matrix functions which take hermitian values on the unit circle; in terms of certain invariant subspaces of a matrix which is unitary in an indefinite scalar product; and in terms of all invariant subspaces of a certain matrix. These results are inspired by known results for the algebraic Riccati equation arising in the least-squares optimal control problem for continuous linear systems.

摘要:
The identification of non-linear systems based on a NARMAX (Non-linear AutoRegressive Moving-Average model with exogenous inputs) model representation is considered, and a combined stepwise-regression/prediction-error estimation algorithm is derived. The stepwise-regression routine determines the model structure by detecting significant terms in the model, while the prediction-error algorithm provides optimal estimates of the final model parameters. Implementation of the algorithms is discussed in detail, and several simulated examples and industrial applications are included to illustrate that parsimonious models of non-linear systems can be identified using the algorithm.

摘要:
The matrix sign function is applied to the solution of generalized algebraic Riccati equations without the need to reduce them to standard form. The method can be used for both continuous- and discrete-time systems, including discrete-time systems with singular transition matrices.

摘要:
This paper is concerned with the analysis of a time-varying, variable time-delay system using the Galerkin method. The approximate solution is expanded in a set of shifted Legendre polynomials with unknown expansion coefficients. A delay matrix is derived to manipulate the time delay. The original delay-differential equation is converted to a set of algebraic equations through setting the weighted integrals of the residual to zero. An approximate shifted Legendre series solution to the time delay system is thus obtained by solving the resultant algebraic equations. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the applicability of the method.

摘要:
The optimal periodic control problem for a system described by first order partial differential equations is approximated by a sequence of discretized optimization problems. Trigonometric polynomials in two variables are used in the latter problems to approximate the state trajectory, the control and functions appearing in differential equations and in the criterion of the basic problem. The state equations and the instantaneous constraints on the state and the control are taken into account by the mixed exterior-interior penalty function. Sufficient conditions are given for the convergence of solutions of discretized problems to the optimal solution of the basic problem. The possibility of applying the method to a class of optimal periodic control problems in chemical engineering is emphasized.

摘要:
The optimal periodic control problem with the main and the additional optimality criterion for a system described by differential equations is investigated. The energy and raw material consumption are considered as the additional criteria. The problem characterized is approximated by a sequence of discretized optimization problems using trigonometric polynomials and penalty functions. Sufficient conditions are given for the convergence of solutions of discretized problems to the regular optimal solution, which minimizes the additional criterion over the set of solutions minimizing the main criterion. Strong convergence in the case where the energy consumption is the additional criterion is proven.
