摘要:
The synthesis of controls which minimize a linear combination of time and fuel is considered. A second-order system with eigenvalues in simple ratio (with associated parameter λ) and a scalar saturable control input is treated using a transformation of variables approach (Fuller 1973, 1974). An explicit characterization of the optimal switch curves in state space is obtained in the cases of (i) a stable plant ( λ < 0) ; and (ii) an unstable plant ( λ > 0) for which the optimal solution exists only within a bounded region of controllability. For the case of λ = 0 the result reduces to the known optimal control synthesis for the double integrator system.

摘要:
In quantitative feedback synthesis, the objective is to satisfy assigned performance tolerances over given ranges of plant uncertainty and external disturbances. In such linear and non-linear problems, whether single, multiple-loop or multivariable, the synthesis techniques result in frequency-domain bounds ψi(ω) in the complex plane, on the loop transmission functions Li(jω). This paper presents a simple proof that an optimum Li(jω) lies on its ψi(ω) for each ωε[0, ∞). Also, a numerical technique is presented for deriving any desired approximation to the optimum.

摘要:
The paper establishes the relationship between the coefficients of the closed-loop characteristic polynomial and the output feedback matrix. The conditions under which these coefficients are linear functions of the elements of feedback matrix are given. The results are used to determine the existence of stabilizing and pole assigning output feedback matrices. The maximum number of the arbitrarily assignable poles is also given.

摘要:
A physical mechanism is suggested for the appearance of non-integer order infinite zeros. It is used to motivate a conjecture that attempts to characterize all possible orders of infinite zeros in terms of system structural invariants.
