摘要:
The usual design problem is to determine a control signal sequence which operates on a plant to meet certain prescribed design specifications or performance criteria. The concept of controllability and observability play an important role in time-optimal control systems. In most of the cases, although the problem is given in the frequency domain, it is usual to convert it into the time domain for determining the optimal control sequence. It is shown in this paper that such a procedure is unnecessary and that the entire design for time-optimal performance can be carried out in the frequency domain itself.

摘要:
The requirements for achieving a desired value of steady-state error for an optimal control system utilizing the quadratic performance index with a linear plant arc derived for step, ramp and parabolic inputs. These requirements result in a number of the elements of the Riccati matrix being specified in terms of known parameters. It is shown that for an all-pole plant the control system cannot follow a parabolic input. For the stop input theq11element of theQmatrix is specified as one for an all-pole plant or in terms of the fixed plant parameters for a pole-zero plant. Depending on the number of requirements and the order of the system it may be necessary to assume values for the remaining elements of theQmatrix in order to solve the reduced Riccati equation.

摘要:
A method for finding the non-stationary extrema of non-linear scalar-valued functions of a vector argument in the presence of restrictions determining a set of feasible values of the argument is presented in the paper. It is based upon the geometric interpretation of the problem. Further, it is shown that the same procedure can be applied for finding either stationary or non-stationary optima, the objective function having been suitably adapted.

摘要:
This paper deals with a frequency domain technique for stability analysis of linear feedback systems with periodically time-varying parameters. The approximate method of signal balance used by Clarket al. (1064) is generalized to yield better results in the case of a wide variety of systems including some TVP-coupled systems. For systems with TVP coupling, a novel and simple method of ‘pivotal points’ is suggested for quickly sketching the stability boundaries making use of the known stability of subsystems. The results of perturbation analysis (Rao 1969) are found to support the pivotal paint method.
