摘要:
A new canonical form for the minimal realizations of finite dimensional multi-input multi-output linear systems possessing cyclic state spaces has been developed. This minimal realization is called the ‘observable-pair realization’ and may be used as a direct summand of minimal realizations of general linear systems. An algorithm, suitable for computer implementation, is presented for calculating the observable-pair realizations of transfer function matrices of cyclic systems. It is shown that this algorithm is readily used as part of a second algorithm for calculating the minimal realizations of general transfer functions. Finally, it is proved that in a special sense the observable-pair realizations are unique.

摘要:
Proposals for the use of electronic speed governing of diesel engines used for driving alternators has led to a re-examination of the dynamic behaviour of the engine for control purposes. If maximum advantage to the plant performance is to be achieved from using more complex and expensive governing devices, then better models of individual components in the power system for simulation and control studies may be necessary. This paper describes an investigation performed to model the engine in terms of a discrete system. The frequency domain properties of the model (for various numbers of cylinders) are examined and compared with the model usually assumed, as well as with the frequency response of an actual engine. A companion paper will extend this work using 2-transform techniques.

摘要:
The paper considers the optimal filtering problem for systems having one or more stochastic parameters as well as an additive stochastic input. A solution is derived by casting the problem into the general form of non-linear stochastic systems with diffusive Markov solutions. The optimal filter is derived assuming linear measurements and additive noise. Simplification of the optimal filter equations is obtained by approximating the second-order error moment of the optimal estimate and defining a sub-optimal filter. Finally a sensitivity of the sub-optimal filter is defined and its formulation is derived. Simulations of systems with stochastic parameters demonstrate the application of both the sub-optimal filter and its sensitivity

摘要:
This paper presents a new optimality criterion and an optimal algorithm to the problem of pattern classification. It is shown that the optimal pattern classification problem may be treated as a linear programming problem by a suitable transformation. The optimal separating surface obtained is unique and the tolerance is maximum. In the case the maximum tolerance turns out to be zero, the algorithm may yield information concerning the linear separability of the training patterns. Numerical examples and corresponding maximum tolerances are also presented.

摘要:
The complex zeros of a general complex polynomial are localized by constructing the intersection of areas in the complex plane defined by various inequality bounds on the eigenvalues of the companion matrix and also, possibly, by other inequalities on the zeros of polynomials. This localization then provides an efficient starting point for determining the zeros by applying a non-linear optimizer, such as the Fletcher-Powell method, to the square of the modulus of the polynomial, |p(x+iy)|2, in order to determine its minimums. The minimums of | p |2are zero and occur at the zeros of p(z). Experimentation indicates that Gershgorin's discs and similar results for Cassini's ovals supply rather sharp bounds for this purpose

摘要:
The setting of Hilbert resolution spaces is used to explore the properties of nonlinear functions. Natural generalizations of the properties; causality, dissipativity, passivity, and scattering are formulated and interrelationships explored.
