摘要:
This paper presents a procedure for using Hahn polynomials for the analysis and parameter estimation of linear discrete-time single-input/single-output systems described by difference equations. An advantage is gained through transforming a linear difference equation into a set of algebraic equations of the system parameters and the Hahn coefficients of the system variables. The key to the equation conversion is the derivation of a relation between the Hahn coefficients of a function and its time-shifted ones. Examples are provided to show the utilization of the procedure.

摘要:
The Taylor delayed operational matrix is first developed. With the introduction of the Taylor product matrix, the Taylor series approximation can be extended to the analysis of time-varying systems. The method is better than that using Walsh series, as demonstrated by numerical examples. The result is quite satisfactory.

Simple methods for the design of feedforward controllers to achieve steady-state disturbance rejection and command tracking in stable multivariable plants are developed in this paper. The controllers are represented by simple and low-order transfer functions and are not based on reconstruction of the states of the commands and disturbances. For unstable plants, it is shown that the present method can be applied directly when an additional feedback controller is employed to stabilize the plant. The feedback and feedforward controllers do not affect each other and can be designed independently based on the open-loop plant to achieve stability, disturbance rejection and command tracking, respectively. Numerical examples are given for illustration.

This paper presents a modified Sridhar filter which is applied to the problem of the real-time estimation of the trajectory of a manoeuvring re-entry vehicle (MARV) from its radar observations. The Sridhar filter is based on optimal control concepts, specifically the Pontryagin minimum principle and the method of invariant imbedding. In this approach the unknown forces on the MARV are treated as controls that drive the MARV dynamics to track the noisy observed trajectory. This treatment differs from that used with the extended Kalman filter (EKF), where a new state vector of the unknown forces acting on the MARV considered as Wiener processes is augmented to the MARV state vector. The Sridhar filter does not increase the MARV state vector so its computational time, for the cases studied, is about 20% that of the EKF. The performance, as measured by the point error, of the proposed approach is even better than that of the conventional EKF.

This paper deals with the optimal estimation of a distributed-parameter process, for which the observation subject to additive noise is realized by a point sensor. The sensor is allowed to move in the spatial domain, driven by a control input. The aim is to find a trajectory or the sensor which minimizes a weighted sum of the control energy and of the variance of the estimation error, assuming that the estimate is a linear functional of the observation. First, the existence of a solution of this problem is proved. Then an approximation scheme is introduced: it enables us to reduce the problem into an optimal control one for a lumped-parameter system. Several convergence properties of the approximation are proved. Finally, a gradient algorithm is proposed for the numerical solution of the problem and the results of an applications example are shown.

The redesign of a nominal, ‘optimal’ state-space design to improve robustness properties is described. The procedure is limited to open-loop stable plants, and we treat only single-input-single-output systems. The redesign amounts to the construction of a γ-filter. The effects of the γ-filter on noise performance and improved robustness properties turn out to be fairly explicit.

In this paper we introduce the class of two-point boundary-value descriptor systems (TPBVDS), discrete-time systems described by possibly linear dynamics and a set of boundary conditions constraining the values of the system 'state' at the two endpoints of the system's interval of definition. By introducing a standard form for regular pencils we obtain a new and simple generalized Cayley-Hamilton theorem that simplifies our investigation of well-posedness, Green's function solutions, and reachability and observability for TPBVDS. There are two distinct notions of reachability and observability that one can define for TPBVDS, associated with processes that propagate inward from and outward toward the boundaries. We investigate each of these in detail, obtaining, among other things, far simpler forms for the reachability and observability results than found previously in the literature. In addition, we describe several methods for the efficient solution of TPBVDS, one involving recursions from each end of the interval toward the other and two others involving recursions that proceed outward toward and inward from the boundaries.

We deal with three-level incentive differential games in which first and second leaders have access not only to slate information but also to information on follower's strategies. We derive sufficient conditions for three-level incentive schemes using information on follower's strategies in both linear and non-linear differential games, and show that three-level incentive schemes using information on follower's strategies depend on an initial state value.

On m-sets of polynomials from R[s] of degree d, 𝓅m. d the notion of extended-R-equivalence (&E-R-E )ℯand the shifting operation are defined. The equivalence class of 𝓅md under ℯℯ( 𝓅m, d)is characterized by a complete invariant and a canonical form; it is shown that the greatest common divisor ℯ (g.c.d.) of 𝓅m d is an invariant of ℯ(𝓅m, d )For proper sets 𝓅m, d it is also shown that the g.c.d. is invariant under the combined action of E-R-E transformations and shifting operations. Finally, a systematic procedure for the computation of the g.c.d. of 𝓅mdis given. This procedure is based on the use of elementary row operations on real matrices and shifting operations.
