摘要:
A design procedure is presented in which the performance of a dynamic system is optimized without using excessively complex controllers. The control is constrained to be an easily implementable feedback arrangement involving unspecified time-invariant parameters. By applying the calculus of variations, a set of necessary conditions for optimization with respect to these parameters is obtained in the form of a non-linear two-point boundary valne problem. If the resultant performance is unsatisfactory, the complexity of the controller is increased until a compromise between optimization and ease of implementation is achieved.

摘要:
The object of this paper is to introduce a computational method for the optimal control of a linear system by quadratic programming. The numerical method derived here is applicable to the problem, where the control u is considered to be held at a constant value during the constant time interval, and the criterion function is given by the following integral type:But the method introduced in this paper requires no numerical integration except to obtain the transition matrix. Therefore the computational effort is considerably saved.

摘要:
It is shown in the literature (using the Post—Yablonsky theorem) that a complete set of Boolean operations cannot have a cardinal number greater than four. It is the object of this paper to improve this bound and prove that a complete set can have a cardinal number of at most three or, in other words, there does not exist a complete (non–redundant) set of more than three Boolean operations. The proof given here is constructive, using the Post—Yablonsky theorem, truth tables and combinatorial set theory.

摘要:
One of the applications of digital computers in processing sampled data is in determining the gradient of a sampled function. In this paper an algorithm is found for determining the gradient inNdimensions of anN-dimensional wave-number-limited function from its samples. The gradient is found at the sampling points. An upper bound to the truncation error is calculated. The dependence of this error on the pitch of the sampling lattice, the number of samples and the maximum exeursion is found for a cardinal reconstruction function.

摘要:
Kalman's formal limiting procedure is applied to some recent results in sequential discrete-time non-linear filtering and smoothing to obtain the corresponding estimation algorithms for continuous-time non-linear dynamic systems. The resulting filtering algorithm is found to agree with the well-known Detchmendy-Sridhar filter which was obtained via another method. The present smoothing algorithm is a new result. It is argued that the combined filter-smoothing results here lead to an estimation algorithm which is second order in both system dynamics and measurement function non-linearity.

摘要:
The formulae for the synchro standstill synchronizing torque, deriving from the analysis carried out on a transmitted-receiver synchro link in a previous paper entitled ‘Novel interpretation of synchro principles’ by N-Nagy and McNulty (1969) has been tested by experiments. Experiments were devised to measure the standstill synchronizing torque between two excited, interconnected synchros for rotor supply frequencies in the range 20–100 Hz and for a number of rotor supply voltages having complex waveforms of known frequency content. The measured experimental values were compared with values calculated using the formulae derived in the earlier paper above. This gave an indication of the accuracy and limitations of that new synchro theory.
