摘要:
This paper proposes a block-tridiagonal state-space representation to establish alternative algebraic sufficient conditions for the absolute stability of multivariable non-linear systems. The systems considered are described by a transfer function matrix (given by a left matrix-fraction description) with multiple non-linear feedback elements satisfying the positive infinite sector condition. New matrix algorithms are presented in order to construct the block-tridiagonal representation of the system. The relationship of these absolute stability conditions to passivity properties is discussed.

A combination of Zakian's design criteria for vague infinite-dimensional plants and the author's previous work, which specifies a recycle compensator for plants with recycle, is exploited to design a controller for a plant with recycle when the parameters of the process in the recycle path are subject to variations. The method gives a closed-loop system with guaranteed performance for large variations in process parameters.

摘要:
Circulatory autregulation is the phenomenon whereby an isolated organ can maintain a constant or almost-constant blood flow rate over a range of perfusion pressures. A mathematical model is developed, based on work reported in the physiological literature, and tuned to show that autoregulation can be accomplished by pressure-induced oscillations in arteriolar radius. Various features known lo be exhibited by skeletal muscle and by stretch receptors are incorporated in the model of smooth muscle surrounding the arterioles.

摘要:
A systematic procedure is considered for the synthesis of a stabilizing control method for a multimachine power system with phase shifter, taking into account the velocity governor. A new approach is presented, which uses a coordinate-transformation technique and an optimization technique. The application of this method to a stabilizing control problem for a power system is illustrated by considering a 3-machine power system with phase-shifter control, taking into account an additional control vector for the governing system with one time constant. The synthesized controls are then used to improve the power-system transient stability to a remarkable degree and to restore the power-system transients rapidly to the stable-equilibrium point. Numerical results arc given.

In this paper, we consider the problem of robust-controller synthesis with plant and noise spectral uncertainties in LQG optimal systems. We frame an algorithm for synthesizing the robust controller to minimize the least favourable cost functional J via specifying the weighting matricesQandR. The Wiener-Hopf technique in the LQG optimal system, the saddle-point theory and a property of the contractive operator are employed to solve this problem.

摘要:
The simultaneous assignment of eigenvalue and eigenvector in a dynamic system using a constant-gain state-feedback controller is formulated as a static optimization problem. Response shaping by adequately damping the dominant modes or by eliminating the uncontrollable modes is possible in this formulation. Systematic solution through a standard LP routine makes the method attractive for practical implementation. The proposed eigenstructure-assignment algorithm is illustrated through two examples, one of which is the stabilization of a single machine connected to an infinite-bus power system.
