摘要:
The number of pathwise-connected components of various classes of linear systems is determined. The proofs are based on the representation of these classes of systems in terms of balanced realizations. This provides a unified way of deriving well-known results as well as the new results presented here.

摘要:
Given a minimal linear time-invariant system for which the transfer matrix has a rightRP-1and a leftD-1N coprime matrix-fraction description, an inverse relation is established between the block Hankel matrix (formed from the Markov parameters of the eigenstructure ofPandD) and the generalized bezoutian matrix (formed from the polynomial matricesR,P,NandD). Furthermore, it is shown that all eigenstructures that are assignable by output feedback form the same Markov parameters, and this suggests a new approach to eigenstructure assignment.

摘要:
Time-varying discrete bilinear systems with output feedback are considered. Sufficient conditions ensuring the stability and asymptotic stability of discrete bilinear systems with output feedback are derived. These sufficient conditions depend only on the coefficient matrices of the bilinear systems. Thus they are convenient to check and easy to apply in engineering practice.

摘要:
In this paper we consider single-input single-output (SISO) linear time-invariant systems represented by their ‘meromorphic’ transfer functions, k(s). We assume that k(s) is representative of a given set of uncertainty containing k, and we would like to introduce conditions for determining if a nominal plant exists for k, which would then be used for both analysis and design. It is shown that uncertainty sets representing marginally stable (or unstable) dipoles do not possess nominal plants. Some concluding remarks and suggestions for future research are provided.

One approach to this problem is discussed which needs only basic matrix operations.

Recently, Martin and Hewer (1987) have given a measure of the ‘size of the smallest’ perturbationEthat renders a perturbed linear system unstable. These results require global minimization which is computationally difficult. Two conditions are derived which guarantee the stability of a perturbed linear system. These conditions do not require global minimization.
