摘要:
The problem of adding reference inputs to self-tuning systems is considered using the classical device of set-point feedforward. The resulting configuration requires more effort during self-tuning but can converge to the desired servo/regulator feedback system. As a bonus enough additional information is generated to formulate a novel approximate maximum likelihood estimator for use with self-tuned systems.

A new method for obtaining the (m-1/m) Padé approximation for a linear system in state space form is presented. Using elementary equivalence transformations the state matrix is progressively tridiagonalized, generating approximations of increasing order. The technique is equally applicable to series of Markov parameters, time moments of mixtures of these two.

摘要:
In this paper estimates of the abscissa of stability for stable linear continuous systems are determined based on the value of the integral of the time-weighted quadratic performance index. Similar results are obtained for linear discrete systems using the quadratic sum and the time-weighted quadratic sum. It is shown how the use of the Schwarz matrix may simplify the results.

摘要:
Satisfactory synthesis of controllers for large-scale systems must necessarily be conducted within a decomposition-decentralization framework to overcome the twin problems of high dimensionality and constraints on the available information structure, and the determination of controllability conditions are useful in such designs. Now concepts of controllability based primarily on the degree of permitted information exchange among the various parts of the system, are introduced and conditions under which completely decentralized and multilevel controllers can be synthesized are developed. These control schemes are shown to possess additional beneficial features such as tolerance to structural perturbations and provision of efficient means of handling time delays caused by information transfer.

There is given anninput,noutput plant with a specified range of parameter uncertainty and specified tolerances on then2system response to command functions and then2response to disturbance functions. It is shown how Schauder's fixed point theorem may be used to generate a variety of synthesis techniques, for a largo class of such plants. The design guarantees the specifications are satisfied over the range of parameter uncertainty. An attractive property is that design execution is that of successive single-loop designs, with no interaction between them and no iteration necessary. Stability over the range of parameter uncertainty is automatically included.

The optimal control problem with quadratic cost criteria is solved for the class of systems described by a scalar parabolic partial differential equation where the spatial differential operator is linear, is of arbitrary order, and is defined on the real linex≥ 0. The control is applied at the boundaryx= 0 and throughout the interiorx> 0. The Hamilton-Jacobi equation for the problem is solved by applying elementary matrix methods to obtain an expression of Greens formula which involves the boundary control explicitly. The Riccati equation is formulated and, for the ease where the spatial operator is self-adjoint, the spectral representation of the Riccati equation is derived. Previous results have shown that the spectral representation of the Riccati equation for a self-adjoint differential operator on a finite spatial interval, possessing only a point spectrum, consists of an infinite set of bilinear ordinary differential equations. The new results presented here for the case of an operator on a semi-infinite spatial interval show that the spectral representation of the Riccati equation for a self-adjoint differential operator on a semi-infinite spatial interval, possessing a continuous spectrum of multiplicitym, consists ofmbilinear partial differential equations.

摘要:
A parameter adaptation algorithm, suitable for direct-parameter discrete time model reference adaptive control systems, is proposed. This algorithm has a simpler structure than the algorithms suggested earlier. Consequently, the implementation of the algorithm requires less complex hardware with reduced on-line computations. The asymptotic stability of the proposed adaptive scheme in its error space is established.

摘要:
This paper is concerned with an algebraic formulation of the state feedback triangular decoupling problem. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of decoupling matrices for an (A, B, C, D) quadruple are presented. A procedure is outlined for simultaneously realizing a triangular structure and assigning any desired spectrum to the closed loop system.
