A detailed analysis of a number of multivariable process control strategies, including non-interacting control, optimal control, inverse Nyquist array and characteristic locus techniques, is carried out theoretically on a one-dimensional, two-input heat conduction system. Additionally, a new non-interacting control strategy, termed inner-loop decoupling, is developed. The potential improvements in control system performance through the use of extra measurements and through the appropriate selection of measurement locations is assessed. Results show the advantages and disadvantages of the techniques, point to the flexibility of the characteristic locus method and indicate the effectiveness of the new method of inner-loop decoupling.

A one-dimensional Wiener plus independent Poisson control problem, with the state governed by a partial differential equation, has an integrated discounted quadratic cost function and asymmetric bounds on the control, which is a function of the current state. A Bellman equation and the maximum principle for partial differential equations are used to obtain the optimal closed-loop control in bang-bang form. The finite and infinite integral quadratic cost functions are treated separately.

This paper addresses the problems of suboptimal estimation and control of discrete time stochastic systems with cone-bounded non-linearities and state-dependent noise. Upper bounds for the estimation error covariance as well as the quadratic control cost are derived. The behaviour of these upper bounds over the infinite time interval is then considered, and sufficient, conditions for their stability are given. Finally, sufficient conditions for the stability of the closed-loop stochastic control system are obtained. These results provide verifiable conditions for the performance evaluation of simple estimators and controllers for this class of cone-bounded non-linear stochastic systems.

Problems of analysis and parameter estimation of bilinear systems via block-pulse functions are discussed, and recursive algorithms convenient for computers are presented. Compared with Walsh function approaches, the results are much simpler in form. In this method, any positive integer can be chosen as the number of sub-intervals. Consequently, much computing time and storage can be saved, and the recursive algorithms developed also make it possible to identify on-line the parameters of bilinear systems.

摘要:
The generalized block-pulse operational matrices are derived as integral operators for operational calculus. In comparison with Walsh tables, the generalized operational matrices are nothing but the block-pulse tables. Further, it is pointed out that the conventional block-pulse operational matrix is a special case of the generalized operational matrices. Also, the generalized operational matrices are preferable to conventional block-pulse operational matrix when a given function is integrated repeatedly. Finally, the inverse Laplace transform of a rational transfer function via the generalized operational matrices is illustrated as an application of operational calculus.

摘要:
A class of singularly perturbed initial- and boundary-value problems occurring in discrete systems is formulated. Singular perturbation methods are developed separately for initial-value problems and boundary-value problems. The methods essentially consist of seeking an approximate solution in terms of an outer series based on the degenerate problem and a correction series to recover the auxiliary conditions sacrificed in the process of degeneration. Some interesting features are explored and the asymptotic correctness of the formal series expansions is clearly established. Illustrative examples are provided in support of the proposed methods.

The method of multiple scales is used to determine the response of a coupled non linear system. A dynamical system which is built up by the interconnection of non-linear subsystems with weak and strong coupling is analysed. The perturbation results are found to be in good agreement with those obtained by numerically integrating the coupled system.

摘要:
The paper examines the behaviour of an isolated a.c. turbogenerator system connected to an infinite busbar, in which the conventional voltage regulator of the generator has been replaced by a minimum-variance self-tuning regulator. Simulation studies are presented employing a well-tested and representative non-linear model of the system. The regulator adapts successfully to variations in the non-linear system dynamics, caused by substantial changes in operating conditions and also in system configuration. Performance is rigorously assessed in terms of dynamic stability boundaries and also transient stability boundaries arising from balanced three-phase faults at the generator transformer.
