摘要:
The effects of parameter variations on the external characteristics of distributive systems are considered. It is shown that this class of problems can be brought within the framework of modern system sensitivity analysis. The interaction between feedback and system sensitivity is analysed.

摘要:
In earlier studies classical system sensitivity concepts have been generalized to an abstract system setting. It is shown that certain abstract results can be interpreted in the domain of distributive systems. Attention is centred on the interaction between feedback and system sensitivity.

摘要:
A method is developed for the determination of sub-optimal control laws for non-linear dynamical systems. The control laws determined by the use of this method are in time invariant, feedback form and approximately minimize a performance index which is the integral of a positive definite function of the state plus a quadratic function of the control. The basis of the proposed technique is a method for the determination of approximate solutions for the associated Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation. The method is applied to two examples and the results are shown to compare favourably with those obtained by use of other sub-optimal control procedures. The method developed in this paper is applicable, in a practical sense, to systems of higher than second order and seems to hold promise as a means for solving a large class of optimization problems.

摘要:
This paper describes how the serial/matrix technique, derived originally for the response analysis of time-invariant linear systems prescribed in transfer function form, can be extended to give the responses of multivariable systems defined in state apace terms. The method gives the explicit formulation of the time-response of the state vector for a, large class of forcing functions, or, as a particular case, the transition matrix of the system. No theoretical restrictions are placed upon the eigenvalues of the system matrix.

摘要:
A method for solving a class of general deterministic optimal control problems is presented here. The method consists of relating the functions involved in the problem to sequences and then converting the problem to one which deals with these sequences alone. The function-sequence correspondence is defined by representing each function by its Legendre polynomial expansion and then relating the function to the sequence of coefficients in this expansion. After this is done, the problem is converted to one inl2; by determining the equivalents inl2; of differentiation, inner multiplication, and multiplication.

摘要:
The paper indicates a number of approaches to checking the roots of a polynomial to determine whether they have negative real parts. Interrelation between the various approaches are discussed, and the stability criterion in terms of Markov determinants is related to the Hermite criterion with the aid of Lyapunov theory.

摘要:
In this paper, the Coates flow-graph gain formula is modified by the introduction of the loop-set and the two-loop-set, baaed on the concepts of the tree and the two-tree in network topology. The analogy is evident by observing that the two-treesTijof a given graphGcan be obtained by coalescing verticesiandjofGand thon removing the self-loops. In a similar manner, the two-loop-sets can be obtained from the flow graph by first modifying the graph and then obtaining the loop-sets of tho modified graph. Because of such modification, the derivation of tho gain formula is considerably simplified. Consequently, the evaluation of the terms in the formula becomes easier. Finally, a simple method of determining the number of terms in the formula is derived as a check against possible omission of terms due to carelessness.
