摘要:
This paper refers to the numerical analyses of approximating random functions by canonical expansion approximations. Different formulations for calculating the resulting mean square error estimates are included. The proposed approximation is then adapted to obtain threshold crossing information of systems with separable non-stationary Gaussian random inputs. It is assumed that the simulation of the input environment requires the system analyses for different input models, as it, often occurs in the study of aerostructures with atmospheric turbulence disturbances. The illustrative example refers to a single-degree-of-freedom system with a time-variable damping parameter. When compared to another direct numerical approach the results of E[N+(0, 1)] show excellent agreement with a significant saving in machine time

摘要:
A finite-stage, discrete-time, sequential decision theory problem is formulated. The problem is characterized by a sequence of decisions resulting in uncertain outcomes combined with a choice, between decisions, of experiment for obtaining information about previous outcomes. The solution to the problem entails finding optimal rules for the decisions and experiment choices by the method of backward induction. Three theorems are given which may be used to reduce the computational effort in some problem solutions. A measure of the conditional information in an experiment is defined and results are interpreted relative to that measure. Illustrative applications to a simple control problem are given.

摘要:
This paper extends certain results known for lumped parameter differential games to differential games which involve distributed systems described by partial differentia] equations. In particular the distributed system is described by a linear second-order vector partial differential equation with appropriate boundary conditions. Simultaneous distributed and boundary controls are considered and all performance criteria involved are quadratic.

摘要:
A technique is presented here to obtain the best estimates of states and parameters of a dynamic system based on the least squares of the errors between the observed output and the output computed for the dynamic mathematical model simulated on the digital computer. It is assumed that the form of the differential equations of the plant is known. The least-squares problem is interpreted as the Lagrange problem which needs to satisfy the necessary Euler-Lagrange conditions posing a two-point boundary value problem. This is then solved numerically by using the steepest descent method,

摘要:
In this paper, a new form of general combined pulse modulation scheme incorporating the pulse frequency and the pulse width modulation laws is proposed. Three classes of combined pulse modulators of practical importance are defined and a non-linear discrete equivalence of a feedback system containing a general combined pulse modulator is obtained. A practical implementation of one form of the combined pulse modulator as well as a few experimental results of a feedback system containing the modulator are presented.

摘要:
In this paper a new general form for the determination of all the feedback matrices that decouple a system is presented. This form depends directly on the system matrices and involves certain parameters. A simple procedure to derive the equations that constrain these parameters is given. The question of polo-assignment in a decoupled system is also discussed,

摘要:
Stability boundaries from approximate characteristic equations of a class of feedback systems with rapidly varying periodic parameters are obtained, using impulse techniques with the iterated feedback method (Prasada Kao 1970), while the rapidly varying parameter is suitably approximated as a. modulated train of impulses. The predicted results are compared with the experimental observations in the case of a typical third-order system with a rapidly varying parameter (Clark el al. 1964). The method is used to obtain approximately the stability of certain coupled systems.

摘要:
Dimensicmless design parameters for instrument servomechanisms fitted with spring-coupled inertial dampers, or feedback systems equivalent to them, are evaluated from an analytical root locus study. A general philosophy for resolving root locus topology, using an approximation theorem and an auxiliary root locus, is illustrated.

摘要:
The present paper deals with sub-optimal solutions for problems of minimizing integral cost fimetioiuils which consider the state variables alone for stationary linear processes. The control vector and its time derivative are assumed to be bounded. The resulting control policies are linear with respect to the state vector. The performance of the proposed sub-optimal policies is compared with that of classical control systems and a procedure for sub-optimal eigenvalue patterns is presented for systems of any order.
