Performance sensitivity of a tapped delay line filter is studied by varying system parameters such as tap coefficients, tap spacings, and the spectra and bandwidth of signal, noise, and directional noises. The optimum filter is designed both with and without the directional noise by using mean-square-error criterion for the case of single and multiple hydrophones. After prescribing the spectra of signal, noise, and directional noise, the performance sensitivity of the optimum filter is examined in detail for four characteristic tap spacings

摘要:
The problem is considered of replacing optimum non-linear control of saturating, single-variable systems by sub-optimal linear control. Both the optimal and sub-optimal controllers are designed to minimize the integral-square-error of the systems in response to a step input, and a comparison is made of the values of this integral using the two forms of control. The values of the integral are obtained to high accuracy using numerical minimization techniques.

摘要:
An analytical expression for the condition of existence of limit-cycle behaviour for a class of third-order non-linear control systems with memory-type non-linearity is derived. The criteria for the stability of the limit cycle are also included. A typical example is taken for the purpose of illustrating the method of finding the limit-cycle parameters. The divergent, convergent and semistable equilibrium points on the F(a,b,α,β)/E plane are clearly defined.

摘要:
The problem of undesired inherent coupling signals in control systems is quite well known and their effects on performance of the system have been observed. In this paper, some attempt has been made to throw some more light on the effect of the coupling signals on control systems. The sensitivity of performance of the control system due to the coupling signals has been calculated in the same way as the sensitivity of performance of control systems due to parameter variations of the system. Two methods of calculation of the sensitivity function using an analog computer are described with special reference to a particular example of a control system. In both cases, the approximations are pointed out and the limitations of the methods are discussed.

En mettant la variable d'une équation differentielle sous la forme proposéd par Andronov ot Vitf cette Equation parvient à être linéarisée sous une forme matricielle trés condensée. Appliquant alors le critére de Routh aux coefficients de son polynôme caractéristique il est possible d' énoncer de facon compléte les conditions de stabilité locale du système régi par l' équation proposée; on voit en particulier au prix de quelles approximations sur cet énoncé on peut ne eonsiderer autour de la position d'équilibre que des perturbations lentes dans le temps. Ces considérations étendues aux asser-vissements permettent de justifier le caractere sumsant de certains critéres classiques de stabilité

摘要:
A linear-distributed parameter system with a thermal radiation boundary condition is considered here. By employing a representative sampled-data system, a discrete-time system of equations is obtained representing the original distributed parameter system. After transforming to the normal or diagonal form, the system equations are then converted to a continuous-time system of equations. The solution to the minimum time problem with the non-linear boundary condition is then readily obtainable by means of an analogue computer.

摘要:
A method of constructing a modified signal-flow graph, the H-graph, for sampled-data systems is formulated. This graph is obtained from the system graph by incorporating a maximum number of 3nedges for ann-sampler system, depending on the existence of paths between the input of the system and the samplers, and/or between the samplers. A set of rules to calculate the transmittances of these edges is framed. The transmittances of some of the edges in the system graph are modified. The output is obtained from the H-graph by Mason's formula. The concept of the signal-flow matrix has been extended to cover the sampled-data systems.

摘要:
Systems with three (or more) free parameters are considered. Pre-determined locations are assigned to one pair of complex roots, and their existence is guaranteed by assigning two degrees of freedom (two parameters) to constrain them to the desired location. The constraints are used to construct a reduced characteristic equation from which the assigned parameters have been eliminated. The polynomial thus obtained defines the locations of all roots except the specified complex pair, and (for the case of three parameters) a root locus study permits choice of a value of the third parameter such that the root pattern is compatible with a dominance requirement for the specified complex pair
