摘要:
A design procedure is presented for observer-estimators which extends the results of Leondes and Novak for minimal-order observers (observer order l = n — m for an n-dimensional plant with m-dimensional measurement vector) to observers of intermediate order (n — m<l<n). The observer design is 0based on single-stage minimization of the weighted-moan-squaro estimation error. The resulting observer-estimator is equivalent to the Kalman filter for l = n, and identical to the observer of Leondes and Novak for l = n — m. It can be vised as a sub-optimal filter, or as a reduced-order optimal filter when the measurement noise is degenerate,

摘要:
This paper gives a number of a new theorems on evaluation of the determinants, the characteristic function, the eigenvalues, the exponential function and expression of multivariable lower semi-infinite matrices in terms of the indempotent and the nil-potent elements. The theorems of this paper are useful for the analysis and design of non-stationary multivariable control systems.

摘要:
The state-space model for the divided winding rotor (d.w.r.) synchronous machine is derived in a form most suitable for the application of optimal control theory. An optimal controller for the machine is designed to improve the dynamic respose of the power system. The superiority in the performance of the system with the optimal state controller as compared with that of a conventional voltage and angle regulator is conclusively established.

摘要:
The non-cyclicity to cyclicity conversion of a, transfer-function matrix, by using a constant output feedback, is studied in this paper. The conversion is carried out entirely in the frequency domain. It is achieved in two steps: First, a constant matrix of rank one is chosen such that the degree of the minimal polynomial of the resulting transfer-function matrix is increased, while the degree of its characteristic polynomial is retained. Second, such scheme is repeatedly applied until the cyclicity of the resulting transfer-function matrix is reached. A bound on the number of these iterations is also established.

摘要:
In this paper two computational techniques are presented, to solve non-linear differential games which have a value. It is assumed that there may be interaction in the dynamics of the players and that the conflicting index of performance of the game is a scalar function of the final state of the players of the miss-distance type. The first of these techniques is based on the Newton-Raphson method in function space in association with one of the two following non-iterative procedures to solve linear differential games with quadratic pay-off function : the generalized Riccati transformation or the transition matrix method. The second computational technique presented is based on the gradient of the Hamiltonian function with respect to the strategies. Some numerical examples are given to illustrate the methods.

摘要:
A new technique for reducing the order of an unforced linear system for specified initial conditions has been presentod. The same technique can be used to reduce the order of a higher-order transfer function to a lower-order one. The integrals of the time-weighted output square and its first m—l derivatives are evaluated for the specified initial conditions. The values are equated to the integrals of the time-weighted output square and its m— l derivatives of the reduced system to evaluate the coefficients of the reduced system.

摘要:
Strong optimality conditions for the control of general dispersion type distributed-parameter processes described by a set of non-linear parabolic partial differential equations with time-delay in two-point boundary conditions are rigorously derived. Rather general split boundary conditions are considered and their mutual interaction through a pure time-delay is permitted. For linear systems, the conditions are both necessary and sufficient. A physical example illustrates the application.

摘要:
The transient behaviour of the error for a class of linear nth-order feedback control systems with scalar output is considered. A condition (in termsis of the roots of the system characteristic equation) is presented which determines the times at which any (n— 1) variables selected from the error and its first (n— 1) derivatives are simultaneously zero in the transient process of the system ; a topic of relevance to the design of dead-beat controllers. Important features of the: events arising out of n cases in selecting (n— 1) of the error variables are mentioned.
