摘要:
An approximation technique is developed which permits the study of moment stabilities of linear systems subject to weakly random parametric changes. A perturbation technique is used for the derivation of the moment equations, and the resulting deterministic differential equations are then utilized to study the moment stabilities. The results are applied to the analysis of a stochastic RLC circuit.

摘要:
A kind of self-organizing controller is proposed, which can accomplish time-optimal control of the unknown plant through adaptation. The self-organizing controller consists of the controller which has a variable switching surface and the adaptation logic net which observes the state of the controlled plant and the control signal yielded by the controller. It can improve the parameters of the controller according to the adaptation algorithm. The proposed method required neither information on the plant dynamics nor its identification. Adaptation is carried out on line. Computer simulation shows the effectiveness of the method.

A practical study of the application of recursive least squares methods to the adaptive control of a multivariable process is described. The process has a number of inputs and an equal number of state variables are required to be controlled. Investigations are carried out both off-line and in real-time using a hybrid computer. Results show the techniques to be ideally suited for on-line application.

摘要:
A new computational technique for synthesizing the optimal control policy for problems having singular arcs is developed. Through a transformation of the control variable, a new, non-singular gradient method is developed which shows improved convergence properties over the standard gradient and conjugate gradient methods. A number of examples are worked to illustrate the convergence properties of the algorithm.

Modal control theory for linear multivariable systems is extended by introducing a control-law equation which recognizes the existence of controller dynamics. Explicit formulae for the controller gains are derived which are the natural extensions of the formulae for the controller gains which obtain when controller dynamics are neglected.

In a previous paper (Porter and Bradshaw 1972) the theory of the modal control of lumped-parameter systems was extended to embrace the modal control of a class of distributed-parameter systems. This extension, however, was restricted to the development of a theory for the assignment of only one real eigenvalue. In this paper, the theory for the assignment of more than one eigenvalue for this class of distributed-parameter systems is presented.

There is given a minimum-phase plant transfer function, with prescribed bounds on its parameter values. The plant is imbedded in a two-degree-of-freedom feedback system, which is to be designed such that the system time response to a deterministic input lies within specified boundaries. Subject to the above, the design should be such as to minimize the effect of sensor white noise at the input to the plant. This report presents a design procedure for this purpose, based on frequency response concepts. The time-domain tolerances are translated into equivalent frequency response tolerances. The latter lead to bounds on the loop-transmission functionL(jω), in the form of continuous curves on the Nichols chart. Properties ofL(jω) which satisfy these bounds with minimum effect of sensor white noise are derived. The design procedure is quite transparent, providing the designer with the insight to make necessary tradeoffs, at every step in the design process. The same design philosophy may be used to attenuate the effect of disturbances on plants with parameter ignorance.

This paper presents a design method for the low sensitivity optimal modal feedback control of a class of linear distributed-parameter systems with distributed control. The systems are described by differential operators which can be decomposed by a set of non-interacting first-order ordinary differential equations. Optimal control theory of lumped-parameter systems is then applied to construct the control late with modal feedback. Sensitivity of the optimal system is analysed. Modal state and control sensitivity functions are defined and low sensitivity modal feedback control law is constructed. The superiority of the low sensitivity modal feedback control system to the standard optimal control system is illustrated by a numerical example.
