摘要:
Optimal controllers are investigated for linear feedback systems with low-frequency stochastic disturbances, measurement noise and power constraint on the control signal. By adoption of simplified models closed-form expressions are obtained for the optimal controller. These expressions facilitate the study of the controller structure and of the stability margin of the optimal system. It is found that if measurement noise is neglected, the resulting optimal system has a very poor stability margin. If the power constraint on the control signal is neglected, the resulting system is usually again impractical because it. requires excessive control power. On the other hand, if both measurement noise and power constraint are taken into account in the design, the system has a good stability margin, at least in low-order cases. Furthermore, the optimal controller approximates a conventional type such as proportional plus integral.

摘要:
A method is given for determining a general family of output feedback modal-control matrices of controllable and observable linear time-invariant systems. In addition, necessary conditions are established for stabilizing and arbitrarily assigning all eigenvalues by output feedback.

摘要:
Parametric models of a one-dimensional heat diffusion process are determined using the maximum likelihood method. The process is a linear, infinite dimensional system. Statistical teats indicate that the appropriate orders of the models obtained are relatively low. It is found empirically that successive terms in the modal expansion of the transfer function of the process, having gain factors of the same sign, are identified as a single term.

摘要:
The present paper deals with the problem of time optimal control of linear discrete systems whose input has multiple norm constraints. The problem is reduced to finding predual norm and an L,-problem in the theory of moments is used to obtain the solution.

摘要:
An analysis is made in terms of information theory of the behaviour of linear, feedback regulators subjected to stationary, Gaussian-distributed, continuous-parameter, random-process disturbances. It is found that the state of a signal is best represented in terms of two independent measures, namely the variance and the limiting rate of the generalized entropy. A relationship is obtained which links the variance or the power of the outputs and their entropy rates with the information rates to the controllers, and an equivalence in behaviour to communication systems is pointed out. At the minimum of the entropy rate for a fixed variance, equations are derived which are analogous with those applying at equilibrium in thermodynamics.

摘要:
This paper deals with the application of Lyapunov methods to the problem of transient stability of large power systems by decomposing and aggregating the complete system model. This approach decreases the difficulty of calculating the unstable equilibrium points of the system by reducing its dimension. A procedure for calculating the critical switching time based on this technique is described. The results of the validity of the method, as applied to two different systems, are reported.

摘要:
Hypotheses of uniform diagonal dominance are stated for G(iω) and G(iω)−l, where G(s) = Q(s)P(a)−1B is the transfer matrix of the non-linear differential equation P(D)x+ BFQ(D)x = 0, in which F is a diagonal matrix. When G(iω)−1satisfies these hypotheses, sufficient conditions for stability and instability are obtained by applying the circle criterion to the loci of the diagonal elements of G(iω)−1and restricting the corresponding diagonal elements of F to lie within concentric circles having reduced radii. A similar result is also proved for the loci of the diagonal elements of G(iω).

摘要:
In this paper a basis is developed for the systematic design of linear multivariable discrete-time tracking systems for plants with inaccessible states, which thus extends the results for discrete-time plants with accessible states previously obtained by Bradshaw and Porter (1975). The design method is illustrated by the presentation of the results of computer simulation studies.

摘要:
In this paper sufficient conditions for the existence of sustained oscillation in a class of non-linear networks are derived. It is shown that provided the system gain is sufficiently small, the first-order describing function provides an analytically correct method. For a more restrictive class of networks a bound on the system gain for sustained oscillation is expressed directly in terms of the system parameters, and is independent of the describing function.
