摘要:
A mathematical model for a class of linear repetitive, or multipass, processes is developed by reference to a specific example. This is then used to develop the so-called equivalent discrete conventional linear system to act as a basis for simulation studies. Finally, the stability of this class is completely characterized.

摘要:
Large-scale systems that are composed of multiple sensors require the utilization of innovative methods for real-time system state estimator implementation. In fact, the classical approach of centralized estimation cannot provide satisfactory performance, since it requires the transmission of all sensor observations to a central location at large communication bandwidth. Therefore, a decentralized estimation system that distributes the processing is currently the focus of much attention. The gain transfer algorithm developed herein provides a method for decentralized hierarchical estimator implementation. Localized estimators process measurement observations locally within their own microprocessors. A global estimator independently receives information in the form of a Kalman gain transfer from these local systems. This global estimator models the overall system and thereby formulates the state estimates and state error covariance of global interest.

摘要:
Adamjanet al. (1971) established an important equivalence between the optimal Hankel norm model reduction problem (the Schur-Takagi problem) and a classical interpolation problem due to Ahiezer. In two later papers, Ball (1983) and Ball and Helton (1985) investigated a vector version of this interpolation problem, using the sophisticated Ball-Helton operator theory. A parametric approach to the work of Adamjanet al. (1971) was studied by Genin and Kung (1981) in the rational case. We demonstrate that a class ofH∞-optimal control problems and the Hankel norm model reduction problem can be recast as parametric vector interpolation problems (PVIPs), which we solve using the classical Schur construction and results on the inertia of matrices. The connection between parametric vector interpolation and model reduction provides an alternative approach to the PVIP using Glover's state-space formulae (Glover 1984). In both cases, special care needs to be taken at certain ‘non-regular’ values of a gain parameter, a difficulty not recognized in the non-parametric work (e.g. Delsarte et al. 1981).

摘要:
Analytical and graphical methods of interpreting generalised frequency response functions for non-linear systems are derived. It is shown that non-linear phenomena can be classified into intra-kernel and inter-kernel interference and that worst-case responses can be computed. The results are illustrated using several discrete- and continuous-time non-linear systems.

摘要:
Controllability and impulse controllability indices for singular systems are defined via the concept of minimal indices for modules over polynomial rings. These indices are invariant under the transformations of restricted system equivalence and feedback equivalence. They yield a characterization of controllability and impulse controllability of singular systems analogous to the state-space situation and form a complete list of invariants for impulse controllable systems under feedback equivalence. A feedback canonical form described by these invariants is constructed explicitly.

A frequency-domain technique is used for design of constant gain feedforward control against disturbances in multivariable feedback control systems. It is demonstrated that feedforward should not be designed independently of the feedback.

摘要:
Model structure estimation is first accommodated in the general framework of prediction error identification. The concept of the ‘best model structure’ is defined. A theorem is given on bayesian estimation, from which the strong consistency of well-known information criteria with penalty terms is inferred.

摘要:
The structure selection of stochastic dynamic models by the predictive least squares (PLS) criterion introduced by Rissanen and Wertz (1985) is investigated in this paper in view of its relations to the bayesian estimator and to information criteria with a penalty term. It is shown that in the autoregressive case the strong consistency of the PLS criterion can be derived from the strong consistency of the bayesian order estimator.

摘要:
For discrete time-invariant non-minimum-phase deterministic linear systems, a class of unified adaptive control algorithms is presented and global convergence is established. Under suitable conditions, it is shown that this class of algorithms will ensure that the system input and output remain bounded for all time; the system output tracking error converges to zero; and on-line closed-loop poles eventually converge to the desired position.

摘要:
This paper provides a closed formula for the maximum radius of robust stabilizability attainable by a discrete linear finite dimensional controller for a discrete-time plant whose transfer function is subjected to stable infinity-norm-bounded perturbations acting additively on each of its normalized right coprime factors. This is achieved by proving relationships between certain associated discrete-time Lyapunov and Riccati equation solutions. A formula is given for a controller which achieves a suboptimal robustness bound with respect to this type of perturbation.
