摘要:
We consider in this paper the existence and numerical estimation of an optimal boundary control for the linear wave equation. The problem is modified into one consisting of the minimization of a linear functional over a set of Radon measures; the optimal measure is then approximated by a finite combination of atomic measures and the problem converted to a finite-dimensional linear programming problem. The solution to this problem is used to construct a piecewise-constant control. Some numerical examples are considered to illustrate the procedure.

In this paper we consider the problem of optimizing the Frobenious norm of linear static feedback gains of a system with control structure and stability region constraints. We consider four important control structure constraints. These are: (i) static output feedback; (ii) constant gain feedback for multiple operating conditions; (iii) two-controller feedback; and (iv) decentralized feedback. We obtain a nonlinear programming formulation for the optimization problem and present an effective numerical approach for solving it. We include four examples.

The most common approach to multivariate fuzzy control is to extend the single-variable case by combining more state-variable pairs. This approach, however, results in high-dimensional rule-bases that may not be implementable in practical systems. Typically, for each additional state variable, the number of rules increases exponentially. Clearly, the number of rules, even for systems of moderate complexity, becomes impractical in real-time, due to the required processing time. This paper proposes and implements a simplified structure for a multi-variable fuzzy controller, which also reduces the total number of rules. This approach is suitable for machine-learning applications since different rules can be derived to infer the correct control actions, dependent on the controller structure and the way in which the input variables have been paired. The number of rules using this approach is minimal and is a linear function of the number of the state inputs. Furthermore, no fuzzification/defuzzification scaling factors are required for the controllers in intermediate levels of composition. The methodology is demonstrated on an anaesthesia simulation case study.

This paper discusses the parameter identification problem of discrete-time stochastic bilinear systems, when the dynamic system noise is coloured and its variance function may be unbounded in time. It will be proved, under weak conditions, that the extended least squares estimate of the system parameter has strong consistency and a fast convergence rate.

This paper is focused on the problem of adaptively stabilizing a class of linear dynamical systems with time-varying delay, in which some parameters are unknown-but-bounded. It is established that when certain structural constraints are met, then a non-adaptive output-feedback stabilizing controller can be constructed to render the closed-loop system ‘globally practically stable’. When the uncertainty set is unknown, an adaptive controller is then developed. The controller consists of two-terms: a growth term and a nonlinear output-driven term whereby the associated coefficients are easily designed within a very wide range.

摘要:
To relieve the difficulty and inconvenience of selecting the switching point in time optimal control, an adaptive model following control (AMFC) is developed. The AMFC can make the controlled plant follow as closely as possible a desired reference model whose switching point can be calculated easily and accurately, ensuring that the error between the reference model and the real system approaches zero. The AMFC is applied to the tracking actuator of a magneto-optical disk drive to improve its slow tracking performance. From the simulation and experimental results, an average accessing time as small as 20 ms is obtained.

This article concerns a class of two-time-scale single-input single-output nonlinear systems. For such systems, combination of singular perturbation and geometric methods is employed to synthesize well-conditioned static state feedback laws that induce a well-characterized input-output behaviour and guarantee stability of the closed-loop system. The developed control laws are applied to two nonlinear chemical processes with time-scale multiplicity and their performance is evaluated through simulations.
