摘要:
A new canonical form for linear time-invariant multivariable systems is developed. This canonical form is distinguished by the fact that it is uniquely related to the system's input-output behaviour (transfer function matrix). Furthermore, the number of parameters in the canonical form which are not pre-specified (as either zero or one) is minimal.

摘要:
The stability of systems governed by a set of coupled, non-linear, partial differential equations is considered in this paper. A stability theorem and corollary are presented and proved using the methods of functional analysis and semi-groups. The results hold for any Lpnorm including the L∞norm. An illustrative numerical example is also presented.

摘要:
In this paper a method for synthesizing a sub-optimal feedback controller which is sensitive to variations in plant parameters is presented. The structure of the sub-optimal control is a linear combination of suitably chosen basis functions multiplied by coefficients which are functions of the varying plant parameters. The coefficient multipliers are determined by the minimization of a mean-square error using data obtained from numerically computed optimal trajectories. The controller may be called adaptive since it uses identification of the varying plant parameters to modify the coefficient multipliers. Examples are included which show that with relative sensitivity as the criterion the method is superior to other methods of suboptimal control design.

A method has been developed for constructing regions of stability for non-linear systems containing time delays. This method, based on modified Liapunov stability theorems, is applicable to higher-dimensional systems containing several time delays or time-varying delays. A reactor example is presented to illustrate the method.

摘要:
A mathematical model is developed for a 200 MW coal-fired, drum-type natural circulation boiler with reheat. The complete unit is divided, for the convenience of the analysis, into several sections, viz. the economizer, the drum, the downcomer, etc. The dynamic behaviour of each section is described in mathematical terms. The equations are linearized and manipulated into state space form for solution in a digital computer. Results for the more important system variables are presented end discussed. Difficulties found in the modelling are emphasized.

摘要:
An algorithm of classifying multicategory patterns using a characteristic vector matrix is described. It is shown that, if the training patterns are linearly separable, the algorithm will guarantee convergence. Furthermore, if the training patterns are not linearly separable, then a method for testing the existence of a limit cycle in the iteration procedure is developed. Examples indicate that the algorithm has rapid convergence and its usefulness is promising. Also a comparison of the convergence condition of the algorithm with that of the fractional correction rule is made.
