摘要:
A new result of the problem of pole assignment by output feedback is presented. A simple condition is given under which min (n, m + r − 1) closed-loop poles can be assigned arbitrarily by a gain output feedback, wheren, mandrare the dimensions of the state, output and input vectors, respectively. Under the same condition, a new lower bound for the number of poles assignable by a fixed-order dynamic compensator is given which improves considerably on the results of Breach and Pearson (1970) and Ahmari and Vacroux (1973). A design algorithm and illustrative examples are also given.

摘要:
This paper considers the theory of stochastic approximation in a Hilbert space setting for applicable purposes with emphasis in system identification. The algorithms investigated here converge in quadratic mean and with probability 1 and are less restrictive, from the application viewpoint, than the original works on stochastic approximation theory. This approach supplies a suitable class of algorithms satisfying the convergence requirements, without compromising the system identification applicability.

摘要:
Optimally regulated linear systems possess a number of properties attractive to the designer of feedback control loops. On account of these properties both the optimal controller and the compensated system have formed the subject of extensive research in recent years. One aspect of the behaviour of optimal systems which has received little attention, however, concerns the movement of the closed-loop poles of optimal systems when the weight on the control effort in the index of performance is relaxed to arbitrarily low levels. Relevant results on this topic have been derived for scalar systems only while extensions of these to the multivariable case have been presented in a qualitative manner only with the exception of the lowest order of behaviour for which some explicit results exist. Here a new root-locus approach is used in order to study all orders of behaviour. The results derived relate the asymptotic behaviour of the poles of the optimal system to that of the original system and for this reason more light is cast onto the function of the optimal controller. Explicit results are given for all orders up to five although the symmetric nature of the pattern of behaviour established enables by conjecture the extension of these results to all orders. A numerical example is included at the end of this paper for the purposes of illustration.

摘要:
It has been known for some years that state constrained problems in optimal control can be transformed to unconstrained singular control problems. This report shows how the class of partially singular trajectories may be embedded into the class of state constrained arcs. The resulting formulation is then used to deduce a certain well-known necessary condition at a junction between non-singular and singular subarcs on a partially singular trajectory.

摘要:
Certain necessary conditions for joining optimal singular and non-singular subarcs are well established in the control literature. This paper shows that different necessary conditions at junctions may be applicable under certain circumstances.

摘要:
Most of the work available in the literature deals with the problem of checking the identifiability of a given model structure. However two problems must often be faced in practical applications : first, as the structure to be examined increases in complexity, the proposed procedures become computationally unfeasible ; secondly, in cases where identifiability cannot be achieved, a more detailed analysis of what can be identified is of great interest.

摘要:
It is shown that the asymptotic values of the invariant zeros and associated zero-directions of multivariable systems with ‘slow’ and ‘ fast ’ modes can be readily computed by considering separately the system matrices associated with the ‘ slow ’ and ‘ fast ’ sub-systems of such systems. The general results are illustrated by determining both the ‘ slow ’ and ‘ fast ’ invariant zeros and associated zero-directions of a third-order system with ‘ slow ’ and ‘ fast ’ modes.

摘要:
It is shown that the recent results of Moore (1976) and Porter and D'Azzo (1977) can be readily extended so as to provide a computationally attractive method of closed-loop eigenstructure assignment by state feedback in multivariable systems with ‘ slow ’ and ‘ fast ’ modes. The general results are illustrated by designing a state-feedback controller for a third-order system with ‘ slow ’ and ‘ fast ’ modes which assigns asymptotically the entire closed-loop eigenstructure as characterized by both ‘ slow ’ and ‘ fast ’ eigenvalues and eigenvectors.
