This paper derives the output autocorrelation function of a biased full-wave limiter, which is obtained by introducing the bias into Baum'g error-function limiter. The input to the limiter is assumed to be a gaussian noise. Using the characteristic function method, two different solutions are obtained:

Amplitudes and stability of the harmonic oscillations in closed-loop systems with ‘ dynamic range ’ type non-linearity under sudden sinusoidal excitation are analysed using the describing function mid the phase-plane methods. The legions of initial conditions leading to a particular amplitude of oscillation are also determined. From this a general and qualitative behaviour of the response and also the nature of variation of the multiple amplitudes in systems containing a piece-wise, single-valued non-linear characteristic are discussed. The study is repeated for the case in which the input amplitude is varied at a fixed frequency. Analogue computer results, for one example, show the correspondence with the theory. The method is then extended to systems with backlash.

The theory of differential games is of recent origin. In attempting to formulate optimal control problems with uncertainty as differential games, several difficulties which are characteristic of differential game theory are encountered. The nature of these difficulties is discussed and through several illustrative examples the various steps involved in solving differential games of varied degree of sophistication and difficulty are outlined.

The problem of a saturating control system with only two modes of control considered in a previous paper for a second-order system is extended to include a third-order system. An approximate solution to the third-order bang-bang system is also considered.
