Linear programming versions of some control problems on Markov chains are derived, and are studied under conditions which occur in typical problems which arise by discretizing continuous time and state systems or in discrete state systems. Control interpretations of the dual variables and simplex multipliers are given. The formulations allows the treatment of ‘state space’ like constraints which cannot be handled conveniently with dynamic programming. The relation between dynamic programming on Markov chains and the deterministic discrete maximum principle is explored, and some insight is obtained into the problem of singular stochastic controls (with respect to a stochastic maximum principle).

A modal control theory is developed whereby the loop-gains of a single-input system may be readily calculated using a simple formula for the case when the system matrix has a number of sets of confluent eigenvalues. The simple results derived in this paper are made possible by using the properties of the mode-controllability matrix of the system.

摘要:
This paper deals with the optimal control of an integrated (hydro-thermal) power system taking into account all the non-linearities, constraints and discontinuities in the system. The mathematical solution of the deterministic problem is obtained using the generalized Maximum Principle. It turns out that the optimization equations for the thermal power system obtained by Carpentier and Sirioux, who used the Kuhn and Tucker theory, are a particular case of the optimization equations for the integrated power system obtained here using the generalized maximum principle.

摘要:
A generalization of the potential function method is made for multi-class pattern classification. Based on the construction of a set of separation functions an algorithm is proposed for teaching automata to classify various classes of input patterns. Using a basic assumption that the potential functions are bounded and the separation functions can be represented by a linear combination of a set of certain real scalar functions, the convergence of the algorithm is proved.

摘要:
A relay introduced in the forward path of a sampled-data system deteriorates the intersample response of a linear system exhibiting hidden oscillations. It is established that sinusoidal dither has very fine control over the intersample response as well. The dither signal, incidentally, can be obtained by the addition of a minor loop around the relay. The zero-order hold is shown to be effective in eliminating the intersample ripples.

This paper considers the stability of a feedback system with backlash. It is assumed that the feedback loop consists of an asymptotically linear, monotonic non-linearity with slope confined to [0,k[, a linear time-invariant sub-system characterized by the impulse response, and a transducer with backlash. A class of input is considered. The stability criterion for the feedback system is given in the form of the multiplier. Such is also the case with systems with an instantaneous non-linearity

Some approaches to analysing and designing a class of sampled data non-linear multivariable systems are proposed. In the first part of this paper, the notion of ‘arbitrary order difference, Δaƒ(t)’ function is given along with its connection with the modifiedz-transform and its possibilities for solving some non-linear difference equations. In the second part, some general theoretic results are stated. In the third part there are exposed two methods for designing these systems to the accuracy of the first harmonic. The last part gives the extension to the discrete case of the ‘reactive energy minimization method’ which has been proposed recently by Jumarie for the continuous systems

The purpose of this paper is to give a direct algebraic proof, without invoking the existence of inverse systems, that the two criteria of invertibility of multi-variable linear time-invariant dynamical systems given by Sain and Massey (1969) are equivalent. In a dual manner, the method of this paper can be used to prove directly that the various criteria of functional reproducibility of multi-variable linear systems, which have appeared in the literature, are equivalent.

摘要:
In this paper a generalized definition of passivity is introduced. Sufficient conditions of passivity for a certain class of time-varying non-linearities associating with various RL, RC and RLC multipliers are presented. It is pointed out that these passivity results can be used in conjunction with a Popov-type frequency domain condition to obtain many very general stability criteria of non-linear time-varying feedback systems in a systematic and unified manner by means of the passivity theorem.
