摘要:
The usual (non-stochastic stopping) control problem is extended to the case of random terminal time. The more general model presented hero should be particularly useful when a system will change while being controlled. Systems which are otherwise deterministic, and systems with additive noise in the dynamic equation are considered.

摘要:
In this paper some relations between the continuous and discrete (sampled) minimum time problems are examined. In particular the effects of the sampling constraint are examined for plants with real and complex eigenvalues, and for pulse amplitude and pulse width modulated systems.

摘要:
Results of application of the perturbation approach along with stochastic approximations to the problem of optimizing non-linear stochastic systems subject to quadratic index are discussed. The perturbation approach is first introduced with the help of linear regulator systems. This is combined subsequently with statistical linearization in order to derive sub-optimal solutions for the problem of optimizing a non-linear system. Finally, a new stochastic approximation technique, that permits more accuracy than the linearization, is suggested for the non-linear problem. Numerical examples are presented to compare the results of the various approximation methods and also to illustrate the possible advantages of non-linearization.

摘要:
Identification and control of linear discrete-time systems with unknown time-invariant parameters and conditional quadratic cost function are considered. Parameters of the system are unknown but subject to a given aprioridistribution. A multi-step control algorithm is developed for systems given only noisy output measurements. The control strategy generated by the algorithm is continuously revised as new data are received. An example is solved to illustrate the method. It is shown that revision of control strategies, as new data become available, requires solution of a set of recurrence coefficient equations.

摘要:
This paper presents a clear interpretation of the pole migration on the real axis where many root loci starting from different poles lie together or conflict with one another, by introducing the concept of a pair of real roots. Except in the case of a single root locus, the root loci on the real axis appear always as a pair. Just like the complex number, a pair of real roots is expressed in two parts and the whole root loci for both real and complex roots are plotted in the conventional rectangular coordinates as continuous curves, by which the migration of each pole on the real axis is shown very clearly. Three examples are given.

摘要:
The application of a doped silicon element in association with a crystal lamp as a variable resistive element is a logical extension of previous work. A simple control circuit is used to obtain a linear relationship between an input signal voltage and the ohmic value of the silicon element, the overall control system having a settling time of 200 µsec.

摘要:
Necessary conditions, analogous to those of Pontryagin's maximum principle are developed for the problem of reducing the state, of linear systems with delay, to zero in minimum time. An example is presented that demonstrates the technique of finding the time optimal control.

摘要:
An approach for the application of transform methods to linear time-varying systems is presented. A general system function H1(λ)H2(t) for these systems is proposed. Methods of finding appropriate transforms and system functions for these systems are discussed. Advantages of the proposed approach are indicated.

摘要:
The parameter estimation problem is treated for a general class of distributed-parameter systems disturbed by random inputs. The policy of transforming the problem into an equivalent lumped-parameter form amenable to existing statistical parameter estimation methods is followed. A computed example illustrates the effectiveness of the theory.

摘要:
In this paper a stability theorem is proved for systems with a non-linear time-varying feedback element. It involves a trade-off between restrictions on the non-linear characteristic, on its rate of variation, and on the transfer function of the forward path element. It clarifies the relationship between many existing frequency domain stability criteria, such as the Popov criterion, the Nyquist criterion, and the circle criteria.
