摘要:
The suppression of non-linear behaviour by enclosing a system within a closed-loop having high loop gain is a well-known principle. An example of this type, arising in the roll-attitude control of guided missiles, is presented, and it is shown that a quasi-linear design technique is likely to be adequate, provided that a suitable test is made of the global asymptotic stability.

摘要:
A method for the design of linear state feedback laws for bilinear systems is presented. Using a Liapunov approach, a class of stabilizing feedback amplifier matrices is constructed, depending on three positive definite weighting matrices which can be selected freely. The computation of the amplifiers requires the solution, by successive approximations, of an algebraic Riccati equation for which a positive definite solution must be found. The relative magnitudes of the weighting matrices, expressed in terms of scaling factors, constitute the main design parameters. The influence of these parameters on some important dynamic characteristics of the system is analysed, thus allowing to adapt the parameter choice to the specifications of the design.

摘要:
The paper discusses a widely spread range of linear multivariable systems whose most important property is that the self-effect in each control loop or channel is positive while cross-effects are negative. Most of the various tools can be used in their mathematical description such as sets of linear algebraical or integral equations, and elliptical or parabolic partial equations. Optimization problems for this class of systems, referred to as S-problems, feature a number of properties not inherent in linear optimization problems of general form. Thus solution of the dual S-problem which determines the qualitative solution (solution structure) of the direct problem is independent of its functional. The computing procedure applicable to all types of S-problems features monotonic convergence of successive variable approximations to their optimal values.

摘要:
In this paper, a two-dimensional (2D) Hankel theory is developed. It is shown that the degree of a 2D transfer function is determinable from the rank of its Hankel matrix. The developed theorem encompasses the one-dimensional Hankel matrix as a special case. The result is useful in the computation of the greatest common divisor. It may also be useful in identification, realization, partial realization and coding problems.

摘要:
The objective of this paper is to provide a mathematical framework for building reliable control using less reliable controllers. The new ingredient in the design is the multiple control system which provides the necessary redundancy for reliability enhancement in control systems subject to controller failures. The proposed reliability design is based upon the decentralized control schemes used so far for synthesizing reliable control systems subject to perturbations in the plant interconnection structure.

摘要:
This article considers some aspects of the integrated model of the demand function for irrigation water with a hydrologic model of a one-cell-aquifer. A comparison between an optimal control and free market is carried out. The issue of the optimal time for introducing imported water to the aquifer is also considered. The results are empirically applied to the Pecos Basin in New Mexico.

摘要:
In a feedback system containing a non-linear non-inertial link followed by a low-pass filter, the feedback is limited by the high-frequency noise components of a sensor and input stage. A method is presented which uses a non-linear auxiliary feedback loop in order to increase the feedback and reduce the sensitivity of the output signal to the parameters of filter and power stage. The system satisfies the absolute stability criterion. A numerical example is presented with an increase of 40 dB in the feedback gain.

摘要:
Slowly-varying persistent unmeasured disturbances, i.e. disturbances which allow the process to exhibit quasi steady-state behaviour most of the time, are very common in process-control systems. The inferential control schemes employing the well-known state-reconstruction methods (Luenberger observer, Kalman filter) are unable to cope with such disturbances and have been demonstrated to lead to large errors. The augmentation of the state vector has been proposed as a means for overcoming these difficulties. This paper shows that this procedure yields in general (i.e. always when the number of disturbances exceeds the number of measurements) problems of structural observability and suggests an optimal way to resolve them. As a consequence of this approach a measurement selection criterion is also derived with the objective of minimizing the sensitivity of the state estimates to the disturbances. An interesting parallel is discussed to the dual problem of controllability of a system when the state vector is augmented to allow for integral feedback action.
