摘要:
Sub-optimal policies for the fuel optimal control and energy optimal control problems for a linear-time invariant system ẋ = Ax = Bu, ‖u‖ ≤ Mare obtained through the use of Liapunov functions. The closed-loop sub-optimal policies are employed for the design of controllers with the help of a special class of solutions of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation. The theory for both classes of optimal-control problems is illustrated by examples.

摘要:
The drive currents, digit currents, film outputs and disturb thresholds of magnetic film storage elements have been measured for quasi-elliptical films ranging in size from 1/2; mm x 1/2 mm to 1 mm x 2 mm. It is found that as the hard direction width of the element is increased the film output is increased in proportion, while the drive current rises more slowly. As the easy direction length is increased the digit current required to overcome easy direction dispersion is reduced while the disturb and ‘ creep ’ thresholds are increased. These results may be explained in terms of the internal demagnetizing fields of the elements, and show how the intrinsic properties of the layer are modified by effects due to the element geometry.

摘要:
The Popov criterion for the stability of n. linear finite-dimensional system containing a single non-linearity is extended to infinite-dimensional systems with multiple non-linearities. Bather than examining stability of the states under zero input conditions the paper examines stability of the output.

摘要:
A simple expression given by West (1900) for Booton's equivalent gain is applied to the case of a general piece-wise linear element with jump discontinuities. Similar expressions are derived for the two coofficients of statistical linearization of a memory typo non-linearity. The criterion of minimizing the mean-square error between the time derivatives of actual output of the non-linearity and the output of the linearized model is examined. It is shown that this leads to the same equivalent gains as Booton’3 criterion for the case of zero-memory non-linearity and also for the case of a special class of memory type non-linearities. Illustrative examples are given.

摘要:
A new synthesis procedure is formulated for RC-active filters. It involves the use of idealized unity-gain current and voltage amplifiers as the active clement. To realize a pair of complex conjugate poles we can use either a unity-gain current amplifier with appropriate RC-feedback and input two-port networks, or a unity-gain voltage amplifier with RC-feeddback and output two-port networks.

摘要:
The nature of performance index versus parameter curves determines the applicability of perturbation method. Mean square error (MSE) is taken as the PI in this paper. It is shown that with sinusoidal input there exists one maximum and one minimum for the MSE versus parameter curve irrespective of the order of the transfer function and irrespective of the model being an exact replica of the system or not. The location and value of the parameter corresponding to extremum performance index are found to be dependent on the adjustments made in the other adaptive loops (i.e. interaction between the adaptive loops) and the frequency of input. It is therefore concluded that the perturbation method in its simplest form cannot be applied without suitable modifications, and the necessary modifications are suggested. Three typical examples arc included to give a better understanding of the nature of adjustment to be done when two parameters are varying.
