摘要:
The solution to a continuous-time LQG minimax terminal state estimation problem is obtained using a Hilbert space approach. The minimax decision rule is determined via the method of least favourable prior distributions. The minimax estimator is shown to be a linear functional of the observed data, and the least favourable prior distribution is shown to be a degenerate Gaussian stochastic process.

摘要:
The time-optimal control of systems made of non-linear plants with fast linear actuator dynamics is shown to consist of two parts. The first part is primarily dependent on the dynamics of the non-linear plant and second part is primarily dependent on the fast actuator dynamics. Based on this characterization of the control a near optimal control is proposed.

摘要:
LetGbe a strictly proper, rationalm×lmatrix, with controllability indices λ1≥λ2≥…≥λland observability indices μ1≥μ2≥…≥μm. Also let ϕ1ϕ2…, ϕlbe monic polynomials, where ϕidivides ϕi−1, i = 2, 3,…,l. Does there exist a proper rational feedback matrixKwhich makes the invariant polynomials of the resulting closed-loop system equal to the ϕi? What conditions will ensure that there always exists a suitableK? These questions define the general problem of pole assignment.

摘要:
A technique based on symmetric tensors is presented for the identification and analysis of a class of multivariable non-linear systems composed of linear subsystems and smooth polynomial type non-linearities. Sufficient conditions for system identification by steady-state sinusoidal analysis are obtained. Expressions for the output response are also developed when the applied input consists of exponentials and sinusoids.

摘要:
The problem of constructing an observer for a discrete linear system so as to minimize a quadratic function of the state estimation error is considered. The choice of a particular canonical representation for the system is shown to lead to a simple design procedure. The resulting observer is shown also to possess the minimum-time state-estimation property.

摘要:
In this paper it is shown that complete controllability and complete observability are necessary and sufficient conditions for discrete-time pole assignment by output feedback for linear time-invariant systems. The resultant output feedback gain is a periodic function of time with a period equal to the sampling interval. It is also shown that periodic discrete-output feedback gains can be used in stabilizing a linear time-invariant system if and only if its unstable modes are controllable and observable.

摘要:
In this paper it is shown that complete controllability and complete observability are necessary and sufficient conditions for the complete controllability of linear time-invariant systems by discrete output feedback. In the case where the desired final state is the origin, the resultant, output feedback gain is periodic and the transfer is accomplished in at mostvdperiods, wherevdis the discrete-time index of observability. In the more general case where the desired final state is non-zero, the transfer is accomplished using at mostvdoutput measurements.

摘要:
This work is concerned with an optimal control problem for systems governed by partial differential equations of parabolic type defined in a one-dimensional space. The control is applied alternately at one or other point of the boundary of the spatial domain of the system. Using a relaxed control theory, the existence of solutions to the optimal control problem involving the minimization of a given quadratic cost functional is established. Necessary and sufficient conditions for optimality are derived. Also, an algorithm used to compute optimal solutions is given and some simple examples are considered.

摘要:
Extension of Walsh functions to the analysis of time-varying linear systems is made by the introduction of the product matrix of Walsh vector and its transpose, and the operational property of product matrix. The operational matrix for the backward integration of Walsh functions is first introduced. Therefore, the state transition matrix of optimal control of linear time-varying systems with quadratic performance index can be integrated approximately using Walsh functions. The solution of the state transition matrix leads to piecewise constant gains equally distributed.

摘要:
Approximate solutions to the Lotka-Volterra competition equations are developed, permitting insight into the system behaviour without resorting to computer simulations. The accuracy of the approximate solutions is found to be quite good over a wide range of initial conditions. This is a satisfying prototype study which leads to consideration of approximate solutions for more complex, realistic biological models.
