摘要:
It is shown that all the elements in an arbitrary regular Routh array can be obtained from minors of a single suitably defined observability (or controllability) matrix. This provides an alternative to the Bézoutian matrices of a previous paper. Similar expressions for the minors of Bézoutian-type matrices associated with generalized polynomials are also derived. This enables the Routh array for generalized polynomials to be obtained directly without conversion of the polynomials to power form.

摘要:
An algorithm for the solution of optimal control problems with singular subarcs is presented. The modified quasilinearization is extended to the solution of those problems where the initial conditions are updated successively. A major advantage of the quasilinearization method is its rapidity of convergence despite its simplicity in programming. It is not necessary to introduce penalty functions for the treatment of boundary conditions. An illustrative example is presented.

摘要:
The problem of describing a dynamic system with random excitation is discussed. A differential equation of any realistic dynamic system has higher derivatives with small coefficients. Besides, the random excitation is not a ‘ white ’ noise, it is a ‘ coloured ’ noise with a small but finite correlation interval. Therefore the system can be described by a many-dimensional Markov process having increased the dimension of the state variable vector. It is found that the Markov process can be reduced if the characteristic time in the system is very long compared with both small parameters and correlation interval in the random forcing. The reduced Markov process can also be represented as a solution of some stochastic differential equation under white-noise excitation. The accuracy of the reduction is illustrated by a numerical example.

摘要:
The effect of an integral feedback loop on the performance of a non-linear plant regulated by a linear-quadratic-gaussian controller is investigated. It is shown that such a loop can be designed to greatly reduce the nominal equilibrium errors, which would otherwise result when operating conditions or plant parameters change, without significantly degrading the optimal regulator performance. The theory for such a controller (OPCON + SST) and its application to a towed sonar vehicle are discussed.

A discrete-time fast regulator with fast observer is considered in this paper. The system is assumed as a linear time-invariant nth order r-input, m-output system. Complete controllability and complete observability are assumed. No assumptions are made on the non-singularity of the system matrix and integrality of n/r and n/m. It is shown that the fast regulator with fast observer transfers any initial state to the origin within the number of steps equal to the sum of observability and controllability indices. Simple design methods for fast regulator and fast observer are presented. Also, it is illustrated geometrically how the state point is transferred to a subspace with successively decreased dimension for each step until it arrives at the origin.

The problem of designing an observer to reconstruct the state vector of a linear multivariable system for a general class of unmeasurable and inaccessible disturbance inputs is considered. Existence of an observer is determined by a set of necessary and sufficient conditions which are related to the structure of the system and disturbance model. A minimal-order observer is presented along with an outline of some currently available synthesis techniques.
