摘要:
The most versatile circuit arrangement for actuating the jump phenomenon in the oscillating linear motors so as to control the amplitude of oscillations of the ring seems to be the transformer-coupled trigger circuit. This paper deals with the prediction of the transient characteristics of the ferro-resonant jump phenomenon in mutually coupled non-linear L.C.R. circuits. Since a direct analytical solution appears to be improbable, use is made of the integral curves for 'open-circuit' and 'short-circuit' conditions of the configuration. The circuits investigated are of the transformer type with either inductance alone on the secondary side or with inductance, resistance and a voltage source in series. The phase and switching angle of the voltage source can be varied with respect to the primary supply.

摘要:
A decomposing method is derived for identifying linear system transfer functions if response data in either the frequency domain or time domain are known. The method is based on the application of the second Cauer form or continued fraction expansion. The dominant factors of an unknown system can be systematically identified.

摘要:
Many optimal control solutions require a complete set of measurements of current state variables, which may not be fully available. It is reasonable to ask whether compensators cannot be designed in such a way that the desirable qualities of the optimal control are reproduced.

摘要:
The recent availability of extensive experimental results on the frequency response testing of a diesel engine has lead to an investigation of the influence of the injector mechanism on the dynamic behaviour. It is shown that this mechanism can be modelled as a dynamic gain element which, together with the authors' previously developed models for this type of engine, shows why difficulties were experienced in obtaining the frequency response plots. Additionally, the developed theory shows why diesel engines tend to exhibit unstable behaviour when lightly loaded.

摘要:
A control system containing two non-linear elements may be analysed in the parameter plane to determine the existence, stability and values of amplitude and frequency of limit cycles. Using describing functions to represent the non-linearities, the system characteristic equation may be obtained. Two adjustable parameters are selected, each containing one of the describing functions and possibly several control system gains. A correlation between these parameters and the roots of the characteristic equation is determined by mapping stability contours from the complex 8-plane onto the chosen parameter plane. A relationship between the inputs to the two non-linearities is determined next, and a locus representing the variation of the describing functions also is plotted on the parameter plane. If this locus and the stability contour associated with a pair of pure imaginary roots intersect, the existence and characteristics of a limit cycle are indicated. Particular emphasis is placed on organizing the equations in a manner that lends itself readily to solution by a digital computer.

摘要:
Three specific non-linear transformations of Gaussian stochastic processes occurring in signal detection and control theory are considered. The Gaussian stochastic processes are not necessarily stationary. The common feature of the transformed stochastic processes is that the determination of their covariance functions depends upon the evaluation of the orthant probability of four Gaussian variates over the respective correlation matrix. A method for evaluating this orthant probability, when the correlation matrix has certain specific forms, has recently been discussed by Cheng (1969). The application of this method yields closed-form expressions, in terms of tabulated functions, for the output probability distributions and covariance functions of the non-linear transformations investigated.

摘要:
Based on Zubov's procedure for constructing a Liapunoy function and the solution of linear undetermined equations, the paper develops a method to determine a dynamical system, the stability or instability boundary of which is given as a closed form in the state space. It is shown that the results obtained can be applied to the synthesis of an asymptotically stable system or a finite time stable system.

摘要:
This paper consists of two main parts. Recognizing the existence of identification errors due to variations of system parameters, the first part is devoted to the verification of the existence of a unique continuous solution of a non-linear vector stochastic differential equation with a random parameter and to the establishment of the stochastic sensitivity equation. Both the a and β-stochastic sensitivity equations are established through the precise definition of stochastic sensitivity.

摘要:
This paper considers the sequential estimation of plants described by non-linear differential equations. The statistical nature of the disturbance being unknown, the problem is treated as an optimal control problem with least-squares criterion. It is seen that the criterion function satisfies the Bellman equation at terminal time, which is considered as a running variable. The sequential estimator equations are directly obtained by using Pearson's approximation solution.

摘要:
This paper presents an. application, of functional analysis to the minimal*time control problem where two or more energy constrained systems of the same order must be taken to an initially unknown common point in state space. Two different types of problems with different forms of the energy constraint are described in detail. The development depends on the fact that the reachable region of a system with an energy constraint on the input vector is an ellipsoid.
