摘要:
Studies in the past decade have indicated considerable interest in the problems of optimizing processes having Markovian property. Certain properties of the transition matrix, associated with such processes, regarding the estimates of the steady-state probability distribution, gain estimate, their order of approximation, error in estimate- etc., has been considered in some depth in this paper. The computational ease of these estimates have led to the development of a direct search type sub-optimal algorithm. The algorithm has been employed to Howard's Taxi-Cab problem and Hamza's problem of coupled Markov processes. Often, this sub-optimal solution is itself the optimal solution, which interestingly is the case for the problems solved in this paper. In case whore a strictly optimal solution is necessary, the Howard's algorithm may be persued with the sub-optimal decision as the starting policy. This will still be advantageous from the point of view of computation time for small-scale systems.

摘要:
Different cellular cascades and arrays for realizing arbitrary logical functions as well as special-purpose arrays for parallel arithmetical operations are reviewed. A 4 X 3 cellular array is designed using a basic cell which realizes all the Boolean functions of its two input variables and also includes a flip-flop. The individual cells in the array can be selected and programmed from outside the package for different logic functions. The necessary peripheral logic for accomplishing this is suggested. A large variety of logical subsystems like full adders, code converters, shift registers, etc. are synthesized using these cellular arrays.

摘要:
Attention is directed to the extension of the normal state variable techniques to tho analysis and synthesis of systems having operators other than d/tU. Mention is made of the requirements for controllability, observability and invarianoe and there is a discussion of the order determination task.

摘要:
In this paper, a simple method for identification of separations in a Chan-Mai graph is proposed. This type of identification problem playa a central role in the application of Chan-Mai graphs to linear systems analysis. The proposed method provides a systematic approach to the expansion of Chan-Mai gain formula and is an improvement on existing methods. It is also demonstrated that every determinant can be made to correspond with a Chan-Mai graph, from whose separations all the properties of the determinant may be obtained.

摘要:
A theorem is proved which gives the minimal order of a precompensator which together with state feedback decouples a given linear time-invariant multi-variable system provided the system is invertible. In addition a design procedure is described by which the parameters of the precompensator are determined by solving a set of linear equations.

摘要:
Calculation of the integrated squared error of the linear system with time lag (dead time) is studied by using the Lyapunov function of Repin, The method described here makes it possible to obtain the true value of the integrated squared error through the solutions of certain linear differential equations and linear algebraic equations,

摘要:
First, an algorithm is presented for minimizing an algebraic function subject to general algebraic equality constraints. The algorithm is based formally on the conjugate gradient method for solving unconstrained minimization problems but has the property that each iterate satisfies the constraint conditions exactly. Next, an extension of the algorithm is given which makes it applicable to optimal control problems with terminal state constraints. The computational characteristics of the method are demonstrated with numerical examples.

摘要:
For the non-linear estimation problem with non-linear plant and observation models, white gaussian excitations and continuous data, the state-vector a posteriori probabilities for prediction and smoothing are obtained via the 'partition theorem'. Moreover, for the special class of non-linear estimation problems with linear models excited by white gaussian noise, and with non-gaussian initial state, explicit results are obtained for the a posteriori probabilities, the optimal estimates and the corresponding error-covariance matrices for filtering, prediction and smoothing. In addition, for the latter problem, approximate but simpler expressions are obtained by using a gaussian sum approximation of the initial state-vector probability density. As a special case of the above results, optimal linear smoothing algorithms are obtained in a new form.
