摘要:
This paper is an attempt to study state feedback from the module theoretic point of view. It uses the theory of polynomial models to study state feedback in a way which emphasizes both the module theoretic aspects as well as the state space point of view.

摘要:
In recent papers (Davison 1972, 1975, 1976, Davison and Goldenberg 1975), Davison and co-workers have given the characterization of a minimal-order robust feedback controller containing an error-driven compensator which achieves asymptotic tracking and disturbance rejection using state space methods. More recently, Desoer and Wang (1977, 1978) rederived the minimal order of a similar controller (Ferreira 1976) using frequency domain methods. It is the purpose of this paper to give a detailed demonstration that the latter controller must contain a Divison servocompensator (Davison and Goldenberg 1975) using frequency domain methods. This adds perspective and information to Desoer and Wang (1978, 1977 : Proof of the Corollary of Theorem IV. 1).

摘要:
A natural extension of the multivariable Nyquist array methodologies of Rosenbrock and co-workers to systems having other than diagonally dominant transfer function matrices is proposed. Stability theorems based on the concept of a set of ‘ normalized ’ Gershgorin bands are given. These theorems incorporate results of several recent investigations (Araki and Nwokah 1975, Nwokah 1975, Mee 1976, and Owens 1978). A ‘ normalized ’ form of the Ostrowski bands and a decomposition technique for reducible transfer function matrices are also presented.

摘要:
Multivariable zeros have boon defined in a multitude of ways and of these the physical definition of zeros through the problem of zeroing outputs is preferred here. The extension of this definition, from the external to the internal description undertaken, proves the zeros with the corresponding zero directions to be dual concepts to the poles and corresponding modes. The treatment, adopted in this paper leads to the definition of the zero pencil, Z(s) which through the theory of matrix pencils, proves to be an effective means for the analysis of the zero system structure. Use of the Kroneeker canonical form of Z(s) enables the zero properties of the system to be related to the geometric theory of Wonham and Morse. A practical application of the results concerning the placement of zeros brings the paper to a conclusion.

摘要:
This paper presents a method of time-domain synthesis of dynamical systems treating the process signals as distributions or generalized functions, in the manner originally established by L. Schwartz. The technique of synthesizing the transfer function or the state-space model of a system employs exponentially weighted series of the generalized time derivatives of the impulse distribution, known also as the Poisson moment functional expansion. General algorithms are developed and their application is illustrated in typical eases.

摘要:
Perturbation analysis has been used to obtain transfer functions for a.c. magnetic suspension systems. A simple transfer function relating r.m.s. values, and a more complex transfer function based upon suppressed carrier modulation theory are developed. Results obtained for these models are compared with those from a non-linear digital simulation.

摘要:
Dynamic representations in the form of stable partial differential equations are developed for continuous-time, optimal, fixed-lag smoothing for non-stationary random processes. Previous results for stationary random processes are extended, and suitable finite-dimensional approximations for both the stationary and non-stationary cases are considered. The need for a new device technology which will render continuous-time, fixed-lag smoothing a viable signal processing technique with wide ranging applications in control and communications is discussed.

摘要:
Three new dominance characteristics are introduced to the multivariable Nyquist array methods. The first characteristic utilizes a conformal mapping procedure to establish a new set of bands in the ‘ image ’ plane to assist in feedback gain selection and stability assessment. The second characteristic uses the ‘ image ’ band concept to provide a theoretical foundation for finite frequency dominance considerations, thus removing the restrictive requirement of dominance for all 8 on the NyquistDcontour. The third characteristic provides for the sharing of system dominance among the feedback control loops. This dominance sharing concept may be used to establish dominance and/or to improve the dominance condition in prespecified feedback loops.

摘要:
The relationship between a control-delayed system and its non-delayed model is used to establish the properties of the former. An absolutely controllable delayed system is stabilizable, pole-assignable and dual to a system observable by delayed observations. Feedback implementation can be achieved using finite dimensional methods. The partial differential Riccati equations associated with the infinite time quadratic optimization problem are reduced to finite dimensional algebraic equations. Extensions to the multiple delay case are considered.

摘要:
The multicompanion controllable form of a multivariable system (A, B, C) is used to derive an algebraic description of the (A, B)-invariant and controllability subspaces of the system. The largest such subspaces in Ker (C) are also determined.
