摘要:
This paper deals with a novel method of pattern recognition, in which recognition is effected by sequential sweeping along preferred directions. The chosen set of measurement directions (x1,x2, …xn) are first ordered according to preference and then the axes are swept sequentially in that order. An algorithm is proposed which gives a code representation for the pattern clusters in ann-dimensional pattern space. Two models are proposed for the recognizer. It is shown that the method is capable of 100% recognition of learning patterns, under the assumption that no two patterns belonging to different categories occupy the same pattern point in the pattern space.

摘要:
This paper develops the concept of discrete calculus of variations and then demonstrates its application to optimisation problems for discrete systems. The parallels between this concept and classical calculus of variations are stressed throughout.

摘要:
For the sake of simplicity it is often desirable to restrict the number of feedbacks in a controller. In this case the optimal feedbacks depend on the disturbance to which the system is subjected. Using a quadratic error integral as a measure of the response, three criteria of optimization are considered :1.The response to a given initial disturbance.2.The worst response to an initial disturbance of given magnitude.3.The worst comparison with the unconstrained optimal system. It is shown that for each of these criteria the gradient with respect to the feedbacks can be calculated by a uniform method. The solution may then be found either directly or by a descent procedure. The method is illustrated by an example.

摘要:
The paper presents a technique for predicting the transient responses of linear time-varying aystems where the parameters vary as functions of time. Tho technique is based upon an extension of the Krylov-Bogoliubov method mid the parameter plane analysis. It enables a deliberately introduced time-varying parameter to improve the system response. Computer simulation results are given to indicate the accuracy of the presented technique and its value as a design aid.

摘要:
This paper presents a new procedure for the general matrix Heaviside expansion. The transfer matrix to be expanded can have many eigenvalues, each of which can have any multiplicity. The derivations of the formulas are based on Krylov' matrix and Vandermonde's transformation, and take advantage of using the particular nature of the inverse Jordan matrix. The results are extremely simple.

摘要:
A canonical form of non-linear network equations is derived from two dual integral invariants for a. non-linear network. The equations hold for time-invariant non-linear networks driven by constant-voltage and constant-current Sources.

摘要:
A state-space model for a class of linear distributed-parameter systems has been obtained. The method is based on the eigenfunction integration approach to the system and provides a unified approach to linear distributed systems with both laterally distributed and variable boundary controls. The method is illustrated by a one-dimensional diffusion process.

摘要:
The increase in demand for synthesis of active networks by digital computer has accentuated the problem of producing fast and accurate analysis procedures. The accumulant method is one technique which is applicable to multiple-loop feedback systems and meets the time and accuracy requirements.

摘要:
When a compatible dynamical observer is employod to construct the estimates of the inaccessible states of the system, an increase in the value of the performance index of a finite-time optimal regulator is in general encountered. An expression for this increase in the value is derived. The conditions for zero increase in the cost are discussed.
