摘要:
The decoupling of linear, time-invariant, multivariable systems into single-input, multiple-output subsystems is considered and a theorem by Falb and Wolovich completely solving a special case of this problem is extended to provide a strong necessary condition for decoupling. Unlike other results establishing necessary and sufficient conditions for this problem, the test developed herein is easily applied and does not require extensive constructions. Finally it is shown that this result extends easily to the more general case of decoupling a linear system into multi-variable subsystems.

摘要:
The usually overlooked possibility of mixed strategy solutions is approached by applying the method of dual cones to fixed-duration linear quadratic multistage games with bounded controls. It is shown that the value of such games is piecewise quadratic when open-loop strategies are used, and is at best piecewise quadratic when closed-loop strategies are allowed. It is argued that computation of such value functions is generally excessively burdensome, hence supporting the viewpoint that new, approximate, or hybrid methods will be needed to obtain game solutions.

摘要:
This paper deals with the problem of reducing the complexity of linear, time-invariant and dynamic systems which are described by input-output data corrupted by noise. The goal of the modelling procedure is to choose a model of low order such that the ‘ worst-case ’ error with respect to the unknown system is minimized when the input runs over a given set. An algorithm is given for the computation of the optimal model and of the error bounds according to the disturbance characteristics.

Annth-order closed-loop discrete-time system is said to exhibit a deadbeat response if any arbitrary initial state is taken to the origin innsteps. This paper studies the problem of obtaining a deadbeat response for a discrete-time system by means of constant output feedback and establishes the condition for the existence of a dead-beat controller. This condition is obtained directly from the restrictions on attainable poles when constant output feedback is employed. When the condition is satisfied, the required output feedback matrix exists and is calculated from a relationship given in the paper. The problem is first solved for single-input systems and the result is then extended to multivariable systems, where the output feedback matrices used are restricted to having unity rank. Deadbeat control of multivariable systems by means of unrestricted output feedback matrices is also discussed. A number of illustrative numerical examples are given.

A procedure is presented for the synthesis of multi-input multi-output linear time-invariant control systems using output feedback and if necessary a dynamic device. This additional dynamic part has the structure of a reduced order observer, but its order and parameters are determined rather to achieve a resultant closed-loop transfer matrix than to produce an estimate for unaccessible state variables or for linear functions of state variables. The given method allows in a simple manner for incorporation of additional design specifications relating to control effort and sensitivity properties.

摘要:
The problem of identifiability of processes using measurements obtained under closed loop operation is treated. Single input-single output systems are considered. It is assumed that the feedback is time invariant, linear and noise free. It is also assumed that no external input signal is injected. Conditions, which are simultaneously necessary and sufficient for identifiability are derived. The results are illustrated by a few numerical examples.

摘要:
An iterative algorithm based on linear programming for solving the minimum-time minimum-effort discrete control problem for linear time-invariant systems is presented. The algorithm is based on transforming the minimum-effort problem to an equivalent linear programming one. Some interesting properties of the iterative linear programming algorithm are shown which result in reducing the computational time and storage memory required. Numerical examples are provided to indicate the efficiency of the proposed method.
