摘要:
The problem of determining optimal distributed and boundary controls for a distributed parameter system modelled by a non-linear partial differential equation defined of function spaces is considered. The performance index includes penalties on the state and its spatial derivatives throughout the interior and at the boundary of the spatial domain as well as penalties on the distributed and boundary controls. Under certain differentiability and well posedness assumptions the calculus of variations and an orthogonal representation of Green's identity are used to establish first and second-order necessary conditions on the optimal controls. The theory is then applied to a linear system with quadratic cost on the state and its spatial derivatives, and controls. Two specific examples of the linear system are considered and a method of decoupling the canonical equation for each example is presented.

摘要:
A simple, direct method is presented for deriving necessary conditions of optimality covering most of the situations encountered in practice. The method is based on the observation that, if generalized functions are admitted, a broad class of optimal control problems can be transcribed into a canonical form called the Canonical Variational Problem (CVP). The necessary optimality condition for CVP is phrased in the form of a Lagrange multiplier rule. This condition contains many of the results relating to minimum principles in the optimal control literature.

摘要:
Similar systems with antisymmetric coupling may be analysed by a root locus technique which is a more general version of the standard method. The normal gainKmay be augmented to include antisymmetric coupling γ. and rules for sketching the loci for each value of γ are given.

摘要:
The design of point-wise discrete controllers for a class of stochastic distributed -parameter systems is considered. Assuming a fixed set of controllers' positions, the optimal feedback control is derived using a direct approach in which the infinite dimensional space is approximated using a set of orthonormal functions. The resulting optimal cost is minimized again w.r.t. this set of positions, using gradient techniques, to get the optimal locations for the controller. A one-dimensional diffusion process is used to demonstrate the algorithm.

摘要:
This paper investigates the problem of determining a general family of output feedback matricesKwhich drive the eigenvalues of a controllable and observable linear time-invariant system to desired prespecified positions. The approach followed is based on the concept of making the closed-loop system matrixA+BKCsimilar to another matrixHof the same dimensions which possesses the desired closed-loop eigenvalues. This approach reduces the problem of determining a general family ofK's to that of solving a linear set of equations. In addition, necessary conditions are established for stabilizing and arbitrarily assigning all eigenvalues by output feedback.

摘要:
A new approach is proposed to an advantageous application of both vector Lyapunov functions and vector norms to aggregation of large-scale systems. As a result, the test of the stability property of a large-scale system is achieved without knowledge of stability properties of its subsystems. Furthermore, new completely relaxed stability conditions are established for non-stationary non-linear dynamic large-scale systems, which reduce the stability test to verification of either the Popov criterion or stability of constant matrices of order reduced to the number equal to, or possibly less than, the number of the subsystems.

摘要:
Dual coordination in its present form can only be effectively applied to linear control systems. The present paper shows that with the use of a modification to the primal problem it is possible to apply dual coordination to a class of quadratic systems. The results are applied to the optimal hierarchical control of fluid-supply systems.

摘要:
In this paper the nilpotency properties of deadbeat linear multivariable discrete-time tracking systems incorporating full-order or reduced-order observers for plants with accessible or inaccessible states are investigated. The theory is illustrated by the presentation of the results of computer simulation studies which indicate that the presence of an observer affects only the transient behaviour of deadbeat discrete-time tracking systems and that, the use of a reduced-order observer results in markedly superior transient behaviour than the use of a full-order observer.

摘要:
A technique for the realization of Cauer's first form of continued fraction expansion using integrators is presented in this note. The proposed method gives accurate results on analogue computer simulation when compared with the other methods which use a combination of differentiators and integrators. In this approach the system matrices in the state-space formulation can be written directly from the partial quotients.
