摘要:
Consideration is given to the problem of replacing optimum non-linear control of saturating, single variable, second-order systems by sub-optimal linear control. The performance criteria adopted are integral-square-error and integral-modulus-error, and comparisons are made of the values of these integrals under the alternative forms of control. Known results for the double integrator plant are extended to an oscillatory plant (Bushaw'a plant) and to a plant comprising an integrator and a lag. Asymptotic properties of the optimal switching curves for these plants are studied incidentally

Recently, Lainiotia (1971 c), using the so-called ‘ partition theorem ’, has obtained an optimal linear smoothing algorithm in explicit, closed-form expressions that are attractive, both from a computational and an analysis point of view. Lainiotis (1971c( ‘partition smoothing’ algorithm is re-examined herein, and its computational and analytical advantages studied. It is compared to the previously established two-filter smoothing algorithm of Mayne (1966), Fraser (1967), and Mehra (1968), as well as to the ‘ innovation smoothing ’ algorithm of Kailath and Frost (1968)

摘要:
A new approach for analysing some important structural properties of linear systems as unknown-input observability, invertibility and functional controllability, is presented. It is based on the concepts of ‘ controlled ’ and ‘ conditioned ’ invariance which have recently been developed and applied by the authors for a schematic and unitary treatment of many topics related to analysis and synthesis problems in linear system theory. The necessary and sufficient conditions herein derived are simple in their statement, can be quickly cheeked by means of a digital machine and have a geometrical meaning which tends to be very helpful for understanding their connection with other structural properties and for devising effective synthesis procedures.

The algorithm is based on a modified quasilinearization technique. Two examples are included for illustration.

摘要:
A review on the method for the calculation of the describing function of double valued characteristics is presented here with extension to the inverse describing function problem. With this method the calculation of the DF of a characteristic is obtained by considering the function of the characteristic alone without the need of expanding the output waveform into Fourier series. In addition the method Leads to analytical forms from which the inverse problem, of finding special characteristics from their given describing functions, can be solved.

The problem of controlling a class of nonlinear systems with uncertain parameters and imprecisely defined system and measurement noise terms is considered. A sub-optimal adaptive control algorithm is developed as a solution to coupled linear modelling and control optimization problems. Features of the algorithm are the forward-recursive generation of the modelling and control processes and necessity for past and present values of states and parameters alone in order to implement the algorithm (i.e. no precomputed nominal trajectory is required). These features make the algorithm ideally suited to real-time control applications

摘要:
A method of simulating the dynamic behaviour of gas turbines based on the theory of one-dimensional flow is developed. The analysis results in two sets of spatial differential equations, containing independent functions defining the gas flow phenomena taking place in the engine, whose integration allows evaluation of the time derivatives of the engine rotor speeds. The technique allows the inclusion of such phenomena as compression and expansion, heat transfer, area change, separation and mixing of gas streams, friction, drag, and combustion occurring individually or simultaneously in the gas turbine model. The method is general, in that any gas turbine can be modelled provided its gas flow processes can be defined. The results of an application to an actual engine are given.

The concept of coupling is extended to time-delay systems in this paper. The sub-optimal control is a MacLaurin series expansion of the coupling parameter ϵ which has both open and closed loop terms. The design method with its computational procedure is given for both linear and non-linear plants. The method is applied for both linear and non-linear systems.

The present paper describes procedures for recursive joint identification of the parameters of mixed autoregressive-moving-average models and for the determination of their order.
