摘要:
The output of a non-linear element subjected to two sinusoidal signals of incommensurate frequencies is almost periodic. An exact method of determining the complete response, that is, the amplitudes of the fundamental, harmonic and combination frequencies of the two signals at the output has been developed. A special virtue of this analysis is that it can be carried out graphically or numerically if the non-linear characteristic cannot be expressed in an analytical form or if the resulting integrals are difficult to evaluate. The application of the method is illustrated by deriving expressions for the fundamental, harmonic and combination frequency components in the output of specific non-linearities. This analysis also shows that the approximate DIDF of Oldenburger and Boyer for signals of widely different frequencies is, in fact, the exact DIDF for signals of incommensurate frequencies.

摘要:
Conditions are found guaranteeing stability of a class of non-autonomous delay-differential systems. The principal result of this work is the construction of a functional, and the use of this functional to derive a set of theorems concerning the stability. To illustrate the results, some examples are given.

摘要:
In the design of filters for which it is required that there should be little or no overshoot of the transient response for a step input, it is common practice to adjust parameters so that the binomial filters are realized. This results in relatively slow rise times, but ensures zero overshoot. It is shown in this article that very much faster rise times can be obtained by pole-zero configurations which ensure a non-negative impulse response. The concept differs from traditional methods and also shows that intuitive notions of the response for given pole-zero distributions can be misleading.

摘要:
This paper considers the problem of controlling a multi-input, multi-output, linear, time-invariant dynamic system subjected to disturbances belonging to a known class of signals. The objective is to find a feedback control law which makes the outputs of the system track command signals belonging to a known class with zero steady-state error and a satisfactory transient response. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a state feedback control law that achieves this objective are obtained. The problem of stabilizing the closed-loop system while tracking with zero steady-state error is solved, the problem of controlling the system using output feedback is discussed and sufficient conditions for its solution are obtained. In addition, it is shown that if certain of the above conditions are not satisfied for a given system and class of disturbance and command input signals, then they cannot be satisfied using dynamic (integrator) compensation.

摘要:
A solution is presented for determining the optimal path through a set ofNdiscrete points, subject to constraints on the path. The benefit derived by including a given point on the path depends upon the stochastic state at that point. The optimal path is the one that maximized the total expected pay-off. Three types of probability distributions are discussed and examples are included. A brief discussion of computer requirements is also presented.

摘要:
This paper is an attempt to simulate three three-phase synchronous machine systems, with complete drives, regulators and other interconnecting devices on an analogue computer. The simulation has been done without the usage of any axis transformations. The simulated model for the complete system with drives, regulators and interconnecting controls, enables a simple but comprehensive approach for any model, adaptable for responses of both symmetrical and asymmetrical operating conditions, with only modification of the input and output terminal quantities as the case may be, depending on the situation. The model's flexible applicability is demonstrated by studying the various responses for the different operating conditions.

摘要:
The paper deals with the identification of a process modelled by a stable, linear difference equation of known order, subject to additive output measurement noise, which is equally and independently distributed. It is shown that in the idealized situation, where the noise-free process output is assumed known, there is a set of three estimators which provide consistent estimates of the process parameters. Practical approximations to these estimators lead to on-line algorithms, in which the process parameters as well as the noise-free process outputs are estimated recursively in real time. These practical estimators are tested on simulated data obtained from time-invariant and slowly time-varying models. The performance of these estimators is compared with each other and also with some of the existing ‘bootstrap type’ estimators.

摘要:
This paper presents a set of charts for synthesis and analysis of linear control systems in the frequency domain based on approximation to a third-order system, that is, a closed-loop transfer function with two complex poles, one real pole and one real zero. It involves the specifications of both open-loop and closed-loop systems. Since a set of similar charts for time domain have already been developed, this approach can be applied to most practical linear control systems, either in the frequency domain or the time domain. Three examples are given.

摘要:
A computational scheme is proposed for modelling non-linear dynamical systems using a polynomial form representation. The model output is expressed as a sum of each state raised to negative or positive integer powers. Subsequently, based solely upon the input-output data, the coefficient of each term is estimated in order to establish system structure. The procedure is illustrated by two examples using analytically generated data in one case and experimentally measured test data in the other case.

摘要:
The closed-loop optimal control law obtained for a linear time-invariant system always requires the entire state vector to be available for direct measurement. It is seldom that all the state variables of a physical system are available for measurement. A compatible dynamic observer of the Luenberger type is designed to reconstruct the entire state vector for a synchronous machine-infinite bus system. The performance of the system with the observer cascaded to the optimal controller is compared with the performance of the system when all the state variables are available for feedback. The transfer matrix relating the output and input is derived.
