摘要:
The discrete-time linear filtering problem is considered where the system is constant and the noise is stationary. An optimal time-invariant linear filter is obtained in z-transfer function matrix form. The filter gives an unbiased minimum variance state estimate at the end of a given fixed filtering interval [ 0, T] This state estimate is the same as that which would be obtained using a time-varying Kalman filter, The estimate is therefore better than that which would be obtained from a Wiener filter at this time. The state estimates within the finite filtering interval can also be an improvement over those from a Wiener filter. The major advantage of this filter is that it may be easily implemented because it is time-invariant.

In this paper necessary and sufficient controllability and reconstructibility conditions are given for the tandem connection of two discrete-time, linear, time-invariant systems. These conditions take into account the controllability and the reconstructibility of both systems. The same conditions can be applied to the feedback connection Conditions for the parallel connection are also derived.

摘要:
A new algorithm is presented for the optimal reduction of multi-input, multi-output, time invariant linear systems. It is self-contained and requires no external minimization routines. Using an example it is shown that the algorithm has the ability to determine the correct underlying canonical structure of the optimal reduced order system. The reduction of a ninth order boiler model and an eleventh order nuclear reactor model are presented.

This paper describes an application of the theory of polynomial models to the study of some natural objects in geometric control theory. In particular, it utilizes the correspondence between factorization of polynomial matrices and invariant subspaces to obtain, by the use of Toeplitz operators, a polynomial characterization of (A, B) invariant subspaces as well as those included in her C. A geometric characterization of feedback irreducibility is rederived.

This paper deals with optimal time-invariant reconstruction of the state of a linear time-invariant discrete-time system from output measurements. The problem is analysed in two settings, depending on whether or not the present output measurement is available for the estimation of the present state. The results prove complete separation of observer and controller design for the optimal dynamic output feedback control with respect to a quadratic cost.

摘要:
A feature common to many adaptive systems for identification and control is the adjustment.of gain parameters in a manner ensuring the stability of the overall system. This paper puts forward a principle which assures such a result for arbitrary systems which are linear and time invariant except for the adjustable parameters. The principle only demands that a transfer function be positive real. This transfer function dependent on the structure of the system with respect to the parameters. Several examples from adaptive identification, control and observer schemes are given as illustrations of the conceptual simplification provided by the structural principle.

In this paper the model reference adaptive control design of Suzuki and Takashima (1978) is extended to permit application to non-minimum phase systems. It is shown that the control system of Suzuki and Takashima does not explicitly include an aprioribounded plant input-output assumption necessary for their proof of asymptotic hyperstability. Although not stated explicitly, the same assumption of bounded input to the linear block is also a necessary condition for Landau' s theorems on hyperstability which have been used as the basis for many adaptive control investigations.

An algebraic Riccati matrix equation is solved directly, i.e. disregarding the associated problem of optimum boundary control of a one-dimensional diffusion system. A countable set of exact solutions is found and explicitly specified. From this set the stabilizing solution is selected.
